Job Description

The Company Able Bridge Recruitment are currently working with an owner managed business in the recruitment of an assistant accountant/bookkeeper for their newly opened office in central Edinburgh.The company is well established having been trading for well over a decade where they have seen their revenues double year on year for the past 5 years.The company’s headquarters are based in England however the organisation are in the process of moving several core functions to Edinburgh, finance being one of them.On a day to day basis you will be working with the management accountant however overall you will report into the firms financial controller and work within a medium sized finance team.Benefits;Discretionary bonus of up to 20%.Above industry pension plan.2 days per week office based, days per week working from home.Generous holiday allowance.The ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this role is to support the finance team in the smooth running of the finance function. The role is key to the financial recording of financial transactions whilst the company also go through an ERP implementation (Sage).On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;Creation of client invoices, posting these on the in-house finance system and distributing them to customers.Management of the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that prompt and on-time payments are received.Work with stakeholders within the business to ensure that purchase orders are raised accurately and that these are quoted on incoming invoices.Ensure robust controls are in place so that the procurement process is tightly managed.Match, batch and code invoices and prepare weekly payment runs for review.Manage the accounts payable ensuring that all invoices are paid within agreed payment terms.Reconciliation of company bank accounts, supplier statements and nominal ledger accounts.Maintain company credit card statements ensuring that all expenses conform to the corporate policies.The RequirementsWe are seeking a highly experienced assistant accountant/bookkeeper who has a minimum of 5 years of experience completing the tasks above (within the UK). We are also looking for applicants who have prior experience of using Sage accounting software. The organisationare rapidly growing and we are looking for individuals who have a strong work ethic and who can work under their own initiative. Our client is highly collegiate and work very well as a close nit team.
