Job Description

DC541Military Training InstructorLocationEdgwareSalary£27,000 to £29,000 DOEOverview:First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Military Training Instructor to join their team in Edgware. Our client is a growing company that has 34 military academies across England and Wales. This allows them to offerunique training in both vocational qualifications, employability skills, and most importantly helping learners prepare for employment which includes rewarding careers in the British Armed Forces.As a Military Training Instructor, you will be required to provide outstanding teaching and learning throughout the L2 qualification for learners within the centre. Your lessons will be detailed, well planned and engaging, and the learners under your leadershipwill be well motivated. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keep up to date with subject knowledge to ensure lessons are challenging.
  • Ensure your Industrial knowledge is kept up to date by attending a number of the following, annually: Reserve Training Camps/Events; Look at Life; Familiarisation and Acquaint Days; and Assessment Centres.
  • Ensure assessment is used to inform learners on how to improve their knowledge.
  • Ensure learning is systematically checked for effective learning during lessons and to offer clear directed and timely support that provides notable improvement with learning.
  • Prepare demanding lessons to ensure learners realise their potential.
  • Ensure the curriculum delivers lessons on both physical and emotional well-being.
  • Ensure resources reflect and value the diversity of Learners experience and provide a comprehensive understanding of people and communities beyond their immediate experience.
  • Identify learners who are falling behind, support and enable all to catch up.
  • Set challenging individual targets for all Learners.
  • Support the development of Maths/English with all Learners.
  • Ensure all work experience is tracked via the FCA in England to ensure Learners are embracing the opportunities the programme provides with partner employers.
  • Support the delivery of Learner induction with the Centre Manager.
  • Keep the MIS up to date with all Learners details and tracking of performance of qualifications, attendance, and progressions.
  • Carry out progress reviews to support Learners educational development.
  • Deliver physical training using the bib system during all sessions, to extend and challenge Learners at the appropriate intensity.
  • Deliver Military Training Days that follow the military skills portfolios scheme of work in a cyclical manner.
  • Listen to the views of Learners and parents to improve teaching and learning.
  • Attend regular training on teaching and learning provided.
  • Provide learners, customers, and colleagues with support and advice guidance as part of your everyday role.
  • Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours.
  • Promote equal opportunities and recognition of diversity throughout the company.
  • Comply with the Safeguarding, Prevent, and Health and Safety Policies, and be vigilant to potential concerns and risks at all times.
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Skills and Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years in a military career [essential].
  • Military or civilian Physical Training qualification [highly desirable/preferred].
  • GCSEs Maths & English or equivalent as a minimum [essential]
  • Knowledge of vocational qualifications or the education sector [highly desirable/preferred].
  • Teaching qualification or the experience of teaching or instructing.
  • Experience of working young people.
  • A genuine desire to transform lives through learning.
  • The ability to aspire and mentor both young people and adults to achieve.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good administration and paperwork skills.
  • Appropriate classroom management skills.
In return our client offers:
  • A salary of £27,000 (including £4,000 London Weighting).
  • --- This will rise to £29,000 (inc. LW) for candidates with/gaining the relevant teaching qualification.
  • --- Thereafter, this can increase up to £32,000 (inc. LW) after progression and review.
  • --- LW is only given to candidates living within the M25 or in the following areas: Kent, Surrey, Berkshire, Greater London, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and Essex).
  • 26 days annual leave + Bank Holidays, with increments for time served with the company - you can buy/sell up to an extra 5 days annual leave each year.
