This role is a collaboration with our University client in Warwickshire and their manufacturing partner in Staffordshire.The manufacturing partner specialises in pressure-sensitive adhesive coatings, supplying challenging, technical products into the medical and specialist coating markets. In December 2012, the firm opened a new, dedicated silicone gel contract coating line. With their clean room coating facilities, they are a leading UK coater of silicone gel and solvent acrylic adhesives. A further coating line upgrade began in 2018 and is ongoing. As part of this upgrade, they are installing the latest in digital manufacturing technologies to improve quality assurance and productivity.This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate to participate in an Innovate UK funded project. The aim of the project is to support the complete digital transformation of production at manufacturing business. The digital technologies will help monitor processes and visualise performance graphically to engage all staff in improving efficiency and decision making.The project includes sensor installation, industrial vision systems, database integration, user interface development and data analysis to support continuous improvement activities. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in applying software and database tools to the manufacturing industry with support from university experts.Primarily based at the manufacturing site in Staffordshire, you will be working as part of a collaborative research project and must work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team including factory personnel. You should be able to take responsibility and have the confidence and ability to embed the new knowledge to the team at the factory through training, paired working and via related documents. Interest in novel technologies, innovative engineering approaches and a solid scientific background & culture would be highly valuable.This position is a 30 month fixed term contract and offers a dedicated training budget up to £4000 tailored towards your personal development.
