About DIOThe Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure. Our responsibilities include: • Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment • Provide utilities services • Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering) • Provide a safe place to train • Allocate Service Families Accommodation • Procure and manage routine maintenance and reactive repair • Provide a central register of asset information to advise infrastructure planning • Act as steward of the Defence estate • Provide the unarmed guarding service We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions including head office functions and specialisms such as surveyors, town planners, airfield pavement experts, foresters and construction engineers. We work across the world; in Germany, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands, Norway, Poland, Kenya, Belize, Nepal and Oman. This is an exciting opportunity to heavily influence decisions made by Defence in the management of the estate by delivering evidence-based options through the application of advanced geo-analytical techniques. As a member of DA&I’s Analytics Team there will be many opportunities to be involved in a wider spectrum of analytical projects. The role will include line management of a small team however there will be many additional opportunities to engage in wider management and leadership activities. Job LocationsDIO Data, Analytics & Insight are based in four main regions around the UK; East of England, South East of England, Yorkshire & Humber and West Midlands. We will look to locate you in one of these regions where possible. Where this is not possible, we will look to assign an alternative MOD establishment as your duty station. Applicants should be aware that as part of the Defence Estates Optimisation Programme the DIO Sutton Coldfield site will close and this post will be relocated to Defence Medical Services (Whittington) near Lichfield. This relocation is currently expected to occur in the Spring of 2021.ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Geo-Analytics Manager in DIO for main responsibilities will include: Leadership and ManagementCommitment to the DIO Guiding Principles including inclusion & diversity • Line manager delivery of departmental goals • Ensure own and teams’ compliance with mandatory requirements e.g. H&S training • Promote strong working relationships both within the team and with other teams across DIO, MOD and OGDs Lead the development and implementation of an advanced geospatial analytics capability• Lead the development and upskilling of the analytics team • Seek new ways to support MOD through the use of Analysis • Understand and implement analytical standards throughout DIO & MOD • Drive continuous improvement throughout the team and MOD Lead the delivery of geo-analytical projects• Lead on the delivery of geo-analytical projects • Advise on and apply appropriate geospatial techniques • Advise on and develop engaging and informative outputs and visualisations • Ensuring projects are appropriately documented and quality-assured • Seek feedback from recipients and peers to drive continuous improvement • Engage with the DA&I project management system ensuring processes are followed • Advise on use of correct analytical tools to provide business insight Desirable Experience & SkillsSkill - Use of ArcGIS products 10.4 and aboveBehavioursWell assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:
