Description Role; Plant Protection Network TechnicianLocation; East midlands - HybridSalary; £31886-£37513 DOE - Plus carThe Opportunity;About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for the managing of third party activities in the vicinity of our Pipelines. This includes dealing with Plant Protection enquiries associated with Major Accident Hazard Pipelines and other pressure tiers, ensuringall necessary precautions are taken / applied to protect the integrity of the pipelines in the East Midlands network and investigating encroachments and working with third parties to improve their processes.If youre someone who loves a challenge and enjoys a diverse role where every day is different, this is the role for you!Please note this role will require you to participate in a standby rota where required.Your day to day responsibilities will be: Carrying out technical assessments & evaluate risks to ensure that Major Accident Hazard Pipelines (MAHPs) are not affected by 3rd party works / activities. Reviewing detailed method statements, risk assessments and plans and ensuring that sufficient information has been obtained to fully assess proposed works. Reviewing planning applications, identifying any issues which could adversely impact MAHPs or legal easements and advising relevant authorities accordingly. Liaising with utility companies, 3rd party contractors, farmers, land owners, local authorities, developers, architects, members of the public & key stakeholders providing appropriate safety guidance & advice. Ensuring compliance with specifications, policies, procedures and legislation. Undertaking detailed consultation to ensure the integrity of MAHPs is not affected by 3rd party work activities & ensuring that appropriate levels of supervision and / or additional protective measures are arranged & in place to protect MAHPs. Protect and maintain pipeline easements to ensure access for inspection / maintenance is maintained Responding to a broad range of enquiries relating to matters concerning MAHPs and providing appropriate safety guidance / advice and requirements. Liaising with other engineers / departments where required to obtain specialist advice. Managing resources to ensure delivery of a variety of work activities ensuring that tight timescales and deadlines are met. Completing site visit / inspections with third parties working in the vicinity of Cadents assets and provide technical expertise in relation to protection and avoidance of damage of these assets. Carrying out encroachment investigationswhere third parties work in the vicinity of our pipelines without the proper consultation, or without following our guidanceand work with them to improve their processes. Provide support to the Plant Protection Supervisor for work such as progressing and completing G/17 packs Completing site visits and SRP works as required.About YouYou will possess the following skills, knowledge and qualifications: Valid UK Full Driving Licence Minimum 1-3 years overall experience Broad knowledge of Cadents Core Processes Strong understanding of risk management principles and tools Strong understanding of HSE regulations relevant to role Strong understanding of Process Safety Principals Sound knowledge of Network Operations and SCO requirements Strong knowledge of engineering standards Must be able to interpret utility plans and technical construction drawings Must be able to understand detailed risk assessments and method statements relating to utility, groundwork, construction, demolition and other similar works Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal are essential to this role Must be computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Word, Outlook and ExcelDesirable SCO1&2 Preferably has experience in providing supervision to utility / ground works such as main / cable / service laying activities with a good understanding of the different type of techniques used in such works.Here at Cadent we are committed to supporting our employees to get the best out of themselves.
