Job Description

  • This role require travel to various services across the Midlands/North/Scotland & London/South East. Post holder must be able to travel to services for auditing. The role may also involve nights away from home
  • To effectively observe practice, examine, review & audit services to provide the business & their investors with a clear picture of how they are performing against regulatory standards & key performance indicators
  • To contribute to the development of a robust quality assurance & compliance strategy that ensures effective service quality, governance, & compliance across the portfolio, ensuring that the Montreux Group is recognised as a leading provider of high quality & safe service provision
  • You will also make appropriate recommendations for improvement & report any concerns, or failure to meet regulatory requirements or standards of any service audited to the Montreux Group
  • To contribute to the development & delivery of group culture of continuous improvement to services to enhance service user/patient/resident experience & maintain service user/patient/resident safety
  • To undertake a full range of quality & governance audit functions to ensure services are always prepared & inspection ready
  • To contribute to the development of a quality, governance policy & practice & the delivery of safe, effective, quality services, to promote the basis & values of the Company
  • To support quality governance activities, including the audit cycle; compliance to clinical & best practice standards; & compliance to regulatory frameworks ensuring outstanding service delivery
  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with the Head of Quality, Governance & Risk (HQGR) to oversee compliance framework relating to the relevant regulatory authorities - CQC, HIS & Ofsted & other external review bodies & accreditation agencies & ensure that appropriate processes & monitoring programmes are in place to evidence registration & compliance
  • Make site visits to all portfolio services to audit & assess compliance against appropriate regulatory standards & requirements to ensure residents/patients receive safe, effective, responsive care & services are well led
  • Effectively plan all inspections under direction from HQGR & using Key Lines of Enquiry as a basis for audit where applicable
  • Maintain an audit trail of key records & information which is documented & evidence overview of the service
  • To be responsible for service specific scrutinising & monitoring operational activity, with a view to ensuring compliance with the standards required by current legislation, regulation, guidance, & practice standards
  • Monitor new & emerging guidance & ensure these are reflected in the ongoing development of the Montreux Group Governance audit cycle
  • Support the management of audit framework service reviews & advise HQGR & Clinical Governance & Quality Board of any reportable compliance issues which would be in line with CQC/Ofsted etc regulatory requirements
  • Analyse data, reporting patterns & trends & provide written reports to HQGR & Montreux Governance Board
  • Create straightforward de-brief documents to discuss with service managers at the end of an audit to advise services of outcomes
  • Responsible for monitoring outcomes against inspection criteria & ensuring information is fed back to group to support improve service delivery
  • Work with Group H&S appointed advisors to ensure compliance with H&S requirements & to identify trends
  • Responsible for supporting compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards where appropriate, including the maintenance & implementation of Montreux Information Governance & other Quality Management System
  • Assess & analyse information received from a variety of channels to help determine services are carrying out relevant & appropriate actions as required
  • Assist in the development & delivery of a risk-based inspection programme which is informed by & then feeds into the Montreux risk register
  • Co-ordinate the monitoring & follow-up of recommendations from audits & report on progress
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Educated to degree level with an in-depth knowledge of compliance, governance & risk management
  • Knowledge of the governance agenda, the role of CQC/HIS/CI/Ofsted & the regulators requirements
  • To support the implementation of governance policies & procedures in line with current good practice, & to identify governance issues arising from audits
  • Process & analyse data from audits & report on themes & trends to stakeholders
  • Experience working in LD, MH, Neuro, Children’s services
  • Hold NMC or Allied Healthcare Professional registration
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience of auditing systems & producing effective action plans
  • Experience in senior clinical or education post
  • Experience of managing regulatory issues in practice including accountability, consent, & competency
  • Have a clear understanding of the services Quality Framework used throughout inspections
  • Educated to clinical nursing degree level, or equivalent is desirable but not essential
  • Recognised governance qualifications or suitable demonstrable experience of managing governance systems & processes
  • IRCA certified internal auditor training is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of quality governance in a healthcare
