British Gypsum is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and with over 100 years experience in plaster, plasterboard and ceiling solutions, they create innovative products which delivermeaningful customer benefits.The RoleA great Project Leader will help keep our business running smoothly and be responsible for delivering a high standard of performance excellence in the Product Development team, in order to meet the needs of customers in the delivery of strategic and reactiveproduct projects through collaborative working and continuous improvement.To support the business you will;Drive a safe and sustainable environment

• Promotes our EHS obligations, identifies improvement opportunities and completes safety plan requirements.
• Displays a risk awareness mentality and ensures our safety systems and processes are followed
• Has a positive and proactive attitude towards EHS in all activities, challenges unsafe behaviours and actions, resolves unsafe conditions, and implements systems improvements to drive continuous improvement of department safety performance.

Use customer insights and industry knowledge to meet and exceed customer expectations

• Champions the voice of the customer in the business by robustly building quality in to new and existing products during development and launch stages ensuring that effective controls are employed to maintain quality over time with minimal intervention.
• Seeks out technology trends and regulations to recognise future opportunities and transpose these into the business environment as opportunities.
• Develops problem solving abilities to find Technical solutions to issues related to manufactured quality, creative contradictions or technology developments.

Operate within NPD stage and gate system to deliver projects at pace

• Keeping the customer at the heart of all product development project work through defining the customer requirements and the root causes of problems.
• Collaborates across functions and businesses to develop product knowledge.
• Utilises the project team and their technical deliverables to answer key questions within projects to ensure that new products, and changes to existing products meet the requirements of the business and meet customer expectations.
• Plans and conducts experiments to generate high quality data to identify improvements in efficiency, accuracy or customer satisfaction through interpreting complex and scientific data into information to enable the project team to make best for business,best for customer decisions

Actively manage stakeholders

• Utilises the structure of the business to ensure that projects are delivered at pace and that obstacles are efficiently overcome.
• Is able to communicate both technical and project information to all levels of the business, ensuring that communication methods/styles/content are adapted to the level of the audience.

• Sets themselves challenging objectives and seeks support to achieve them.
• Is passionate about product quality and rapid project delivery and encourages that same behaviour in others that helps them to make best for business decisions.

• Degree (BSc) in science or engineering related subject with a minimum of 3 years industrial experience or doctorate (PhD) in science or engineering related subject.
• Minimum of 3 years working in a quality / product development / laboratory environment or educated to a PhD level.
• Proven track record of on time project delivery and resilience to obstacles to deliver customer needs
• Demonstrated confidence in communicating the critical path of project activity to stakeholders.

Desirable

• Systems - Focus on Mechanical, structural, civil engineering or physics
• Plasterboard - Focus on materials science
• Powders - Focus on Chemistry or materials science
