Job Description

If this sounds like you, please read on to find out more about the Lead Civil Engineer opportunity.How you will utilise your expertise As a Lead Civil Engineer with BPB Ltd (Gyproc) Engineering you will be an integral part of the central engineering team who are responsible for delivering global capital projects - the building or modifications to process manufacturing plants around world.What will I be doingYou will travel globally to sites, preparing civils concept designs of manufacturing plants - this will include, buildings and site infrastructure; offices, parking, loading/distribution areas, storage etc. You will take full project ownership from the concept design stage, through the site construction process, to completion, commissioning and final handover.Key duties and responsibilities

  • Travel around the world on a variety of projects
  • Scope and develop initial designs and layouts for capital projects, and then expand them into detailed plans and drawings.
  • Preparing civils costings and Bills of quantities
  • Research and appoint local design houses in the relevant country/city, agreeing the costings for producing detailed designs and working with them throughout the design process
  • Working closely with cross functional teams mechanical/electrical/utilities
  • Appointing a local contractor/construction team - then working with them thru the construction process
  • Supplier relationship management

  • A Civil Engineering degree or similar
  • Able to demonstrate the delivery of industrial construction projects
  • Able to manage external design houses and construction management teams
  • Able to work in AutoCAD, Revit and STAAD modelling capabilities
  • Good knowledge in civil engineering to be able to cost estimate on their own and be able to evaluate/challenge designs and cost estimates done by external design houses
  • Willingness to travel and spend considerable time on sites globally.
