Laboratory Leader/ManagerSaint Gobain Interior SolutionsEast Leake, Nr LoughboroughAre you someone who is passionate about leading teams in a laboratory testing environmentAt our UKAS accredited laboratory based at our technical centre where we conduct testing for Saint Gobain group companies and external customers, we are looking for a Laboratory Leader to lead a team of technicians and scientists, to provide a professional, confidential, and accurate testing service for customers in the field of Acoustic, Structural and Physical testing.The Laboratory Leaders purpose is to ensure day to day running of the laboratory is completed safely and meets the needs and expectations of our internal and external customers. You will act to ensure we are a trusted partner offering world class and credibleconstruction test facilities.You will be responsible for the day to day running of the laboratory and the flow of work through the team to achieve customer requirements. Your work will include planning, resource management and problem solving to eliminate interruptions in testing activities.Youwill be working with another laboratory leader and to lead a small team to include people development, direction and all HR processes.Saint Gobain Interior Solutions is 3 companies of 30 Saint-Gobain brands, SGIS consists of our British Gypsum, Isover, and Celotex brands where we manufacture a range of gypsum plaster and polymer insulation products for the construction sector.This is a full time position based at our East Leake facility, predominantly Monday to Friday with occasional flexibility required.What were looking for:The ideal candidate will be as a minimum degree educated in a science related subject and will be able to demonstrate a combination of people management and hands on industry experience in a laboratory testing environment. We do offer specific training onthe testing processes and materials we work with so if you havent worked in our industry thats ok, candidates with experience in a similar role in other industries are encouraged to apply.

• Experience of managing safety is critical, formal training such as IOSH or similar is highly desirable.
• Experience and training in lean principles would be advantageous, such as 5s.
• Experience of testing processes in a UKAS accredited environment.
• Leading within a UKAS environment and knowledge of CPR and notified bodies.
• Strong attention to detail.
• An experienced manager, supervisor, or team leader.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple simultaneous priorities

What you will be doing:

• Ensuring compliance to the latest standards, regulations, and best practices. Active involvement and attendance with national and international committees to understand future changes and to ensure we have a voice in these communities and can plan for change.
• Responsibility for the performance and smooth running of the day to day testing. Contributing to the planning of team resources and capabilities to ensure we can meet challenging testing schedules.
• Anticipation of issues with excellent communication and planning to ensure there is no disruption to service.
• Responsible for developing team members to ensure they have the necessary skill to conduct testing competently and safely.
