Job Description

Category Manager - Saint-Gobain UK&ROI - East Leake - FTCAre you someone who has great attention to detail, can work to strict deadlines, and loves providing great customer service.In the role of Category Manager, you will, deliver an excellent strategic category management service for businesses, enabling a safe, cost-effective, and sustainable supply.You will have, strong direct category management experience with a proven track record of continuous improvement and a clear understanding of strategic and tactical procurement best practice.Saint-Gobain in the UK and Ireland includes some of the best-known and respected companies in the construction sector including British Gypsum, Weber, Isover, Glassolutions, Saint-Gobain PAM, and Ecophon. Together they offer a range of high-performance energy-saving products and solutions to help create great living places and improve daily life.We are able to offer hybrid working (2 -3 days from the office) and are open to discussing any other flexible working options you may need. (This role is a Fixed Term Contract of 12 months)What you will be doing:

  • Drives the identification and realization of opportunities for strategic categories of spend, whilst managing risks, within the supply chain to deliver optimal contractual, technical and value for money solutions
  • Identifies and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders within business units, Professional Services and Group Purchasing teams to keep up to date with business intelligence
  • Develops and sustains a way of understanding the key market drivers and trends to be fluent at comprehending the future market landscape and implications for procurement
  • Responsible for implementation of Business Risk Analysis plans and actions for managed categories Enabling implementation of Group procurement strategy
  • Taking personal responsibility for your own safety and well-being and advocating safe working practices across the supply chain to cause no harm in the workplace and keep everyone safe
What were looking for:
  • Strong direct category management experience with a proven track record of continuous improvement, experience in Logistics (rail, road and warehousing) desirable
  • Clear understanding of strategic and tactical procurement best practice and how to implement
  • Experienced in relationship management, influencing and networking skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of contract law and its application
  • Experienced negotiating, renewing and structuring supplier contracts
