Job Description

The Role Our public sector client have an opportunity for a Wintel Platform Engineer to jointheir Technology, Engineering and Operations function with responsibility for maintaining and developing theirPlatforms Infrastructure.You will use your knowledge and experience to ensure that the infrastructure and services are configured securely, highly available and performant. Working with internal Product Management teams you will further develop the core platforms to meet availabilityrequirements and emerging user needs.This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a growing team in a modern and flexible working environment. This is a varied and exciting role for an experienced and enthusiastic individual looking to drive forward the design and delivery of secure capabilitiesthat will be transformative for the organisation.Responsibilities

  • Work within a specialised team to support and maintain the infrastructure of our Microsoft stack
  • Proactively monitor platforms to identify security, performance, and capacity issues.
  • Work autonomously in the team to manage a balanced workload of BAU support and project deliverables
  • Documentation of processes, configuration and known fixes to develop a shared knowledge base
  • Controlled delivery of improvements, changes, and patches
Experience Essential
  • Experienced engineer specialising in Microsoft Windows Server Enterprise, Active Directory, and Group Policy Management
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols (UDP, TCP, TLS, DNS)
  • Experience of using and developing PowerShell scripts.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities
  • AWS Cloud, Lambada, EC2, RDS, VPC, IGW, IAM.
  • Experience in working in Cross Domain and air gapped environments.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware
  • Windows 2022 experience and migration from 2012R2/20216.
  • Experience of working on Windows Core as well as GU
  • Experience with ADFS
  • Ability to develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and scenario playbooks
  • Must be a self-starter and work productively with minimal supervision alone or in collaboration with a team
Desirable
  • Configuration management experience (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Experience in KeyClock, ADFS OAuth 2.0 and integration of cloud services
  • Familiarity with software development practices (version control, CI/CD)
  • Experience of open-source monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus)
Ways of Working
  • Support is provided from offices in East Kilbride, however working remotely from home is the current way of working due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions.
  • There may be a requirement for occasional travel tooffices in London, notwithstanding the current Government mandated restrictions.
