Summary If you want a career in Gardening, we can offer you some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in the UK to work in as well as one of the largest plant collections in Europe.Hours: 1170 annualised hours per yearThis role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the yearDuration: permanent What its like to work here Standen is an arts and crafts family home set in a beautiful hillside garden. The strong arts and crafts offering includes varied exhibitions, a contemporary arts programme and collaborations with local artists.This is an exciting opportunity to join aprogressive team in an ever-growing location. Standen is jam-packed with borders providing lots of ideas for visitors gardens at home. The plant shop sells plants grown in the nursery and seasonal kitchen garden produce is available to buy. Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing As a hands-on Gardener, youll assist in making sure that the gardens are maintained to a high standard. Youll be passionate and enthused and knowledgeable about the varied plants within the garden. This role will include a range of practical horticulturaltasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects. Youll be helping with hard and soft landscaping and general maintenance of the garden, such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding. Youll support withthe planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants. Youll be helping to cut the hedges and mow our fine lawns. Youll also take ownership of specific areas of the garden ensuring the highest standards are maintained and healthy plants are availablefor our visitors to enjoy.Youll also support garden volunteers and help them to make the most of their time here. Youll be expected to interact with the public on a daily basis, answering the many questions, or help out with gardening workshops, tours and helping set up eventswhen needed.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert Who were looking for

  • To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the below:
  • Trained as a professional gardener/horticulturalist with a good level of practical experience.
  • RHS Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Have proven practical gardening/horticulture experience, as well as a knowledge of plants
  • Competence with basic horticultural machinery/equipment use, including rotary mowers and leaf blowers etc
