Job Description

We have a great opportunity for Civils Operatives / Gangs in West Sussex, performing excavations, repairs and re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers, and street cabinets within the public highway.The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide new installation of duct / micro duct, chambersand cabinets andassociated customer connection pots and responsible for own reinstatement.
  • Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standard.
  • Be competent in the use of Stihl Saws / Wacker plates/trench compactor/mini digger/jackhammer and hold the correct certification to complete the works.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for your daily works on job sheets, risk assessments, plant sheets and or van sheets
  • To have a good understanding of plans and drawings and be able to review and understand work instructions prior to any work commencement
  • Completion of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the company assets and plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties.
  • Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures
  • Overtime + Emergency response required on rota with other team members required.
The ideal candidate for this role should have the following skills & qualifications:Essential:
  • Effective Leadership and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to motivate others effectively
  • Results orientated
  • Awareness of Customer Satisfaction for both internal and external sources.
  • Positive and willing to learn.
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety and company policies.
  • Full UK driving Licence to include category BE (Vehicle + Trailer up to 7.5t)
  • NRSWA Street works Operative.
  • Unit 1Location of Underground Apparatus
  • Unit 2Signing, Lighting & Guarding
  • Unit 3Excavation in the Highways
  • Trained & compliant in the use of underground cable avoidance tools (Cat. & Genny)
  • All relevant CPCS cards to complete works.
Preferred:
  • Units 4 to Unit 9
  • Trailer license
  • H & S trained would be advantageous.
  • Experience with Telecommunications Ducting Installations
  • 360 Mini Digger / Excavator Trained
