Job Description

Place of work: East GrinsteadType of Job: Full-time, Permanent.Schedule: Monday to Friday from 09:00 am to 05:30 pmResponsible for: Day-to-day financial transactions of the company.Reports to: Head of AccountsWe are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant to maintain our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments.Duties:

  • Input all day-to-day financial transactions into the accounting system.
  • Process and verify all payable invoices by the end of each month.
  • Process purchase invoices and expense claims and manage the purchase ledger function on Sage.
  • Liaise with suppliers and deal with queries to resolve issues.
  • Payment runs and reconciliations.
  • Allocate direct debit payments.
  • Reconcile payments and customer receipts in multi-currencies.
  • Post all receipts/credits on the computer system to ensure an up-to-date position.
  • Assist in filing all paperwork generated within the Accounts team.
  • Ensure that bank accounts are kept up to date and reconciled.
  • Collate, verify and reconcile company credit card transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of the accounts for the year-end.
  • Assist with other ad hoc duties within the accounts department as and when required
Skills required:
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable principles.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and accounts software, preferably Sage (if you are unfamiliar with Sage, training can be provided).
  • Proficiency in English and MS Office.
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
