Research and Development ManagerSalary dependent on dependent on experienceBenefits include Profit share schemeThe CompanyAn expanding technically driven business operating in the fast growing sector of biologically active microbial and bio-stimulant products for agriculture. The company has grown significantly in the last 5 years and is now active in markets across the World including Canada, USA, Brazil, Europe, Africa, Ukraine, Russia and Australia. These widely different territories present different challenges for microbial inoculant delivery and with this different formulation requirements to optimize product performance.My client is actively supporting 3 PhD positions in the UK (2 at University of Oxford and 1 at University of Stirling). They also have links with the James Hutton Institute and have an international project looking at elite strain selection with University of Aarhus, Denmark. The R&D lead would be expected to represent the company at student steering meetings and target research towards real market problems.The OpportunityReporting into the Managing Director, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a program of product improvement through the existing core products of the business. You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding and preferably a proven track record of success in the optimisation of large scale production of microbial cultures including Bacillus types. Experience in product formulation development for microbial inoculant and bio-stimulant products would also be desirable.This position would suit individuals with excellent organisation skills, ability to present a strategy to solve problems and follow through with experimental design, pilot scale production, in-house testing and field trials programs.The TeamThe R&D Manager will be working closely with the Managing Director, who has a research background and founded the company. As R&D Manager you will be responsible for a Technician and a Customer Support Application Specialist (responsible for taking the products into the field supporting customers at seed coating plants and field trials).
