Job Description

Role: Web Application DeveloperSkills/Keywords: Web Application Developer, .Net Framework & Core, HTML, JavaScript, CSSLocation: Newton AycliffeOur Company:We are a well-established manufacturing and distribution business who are looking to add an experienced Web Application Developer to our In-House IT Development Team.We are continuing a journey of investment in technology and our customer facing systems that improve efficiencies and drive digital transformation across our Group.The Role:We are looking for a Web application developer to join our internal Software Development team to initially develop key Company websites within the Group and start us on a journey of transitioning our Company bespoke desktop applications to web applications.You will have input into the direction of the application platform as a whole and will work collaboratively with the development team to transform our applications from desktop to web.The role will cover the full breadth of software development from maintaining and enhancing our current applications and supporting the use of them through incident and request management.Working within the Software Development team you will influence the output of software changes to include a good degree of focus on visual design and utility to ensure a high standard of user experience.You will work with Business Analysts who will feed functional requirements and look to you for effective delivery of technical changes or new applications and websites. It will not be uncommon for you to have direct interaction with business users at all levels in the delivery of your solutions so good user engagement experience would be a good fit.What you will be doing:

  • Designing, developing, testing and deploying C# projects using .NET Framework and .NET Core
  • Designing and developing upcoming customer facing websites to challenging timescales
  • Designing and developing internal bespoke applications
  • Web development that transitions our Company desktop bespoke applications into high quality web applications
  • Build, Test and release updates to current desktop and future web applications
  • Testing your work across all environments, devices and browsers
  • Writing clean, reusable, responsive and well documented code
  • Optimizing code for maximum page speed and usability
  • Implementing web site tracking and metrics
  • Bug fixing and resolution of issues raised by end users
  • Take part in the IT Developer Sprint meetings and daily stand up, organising your backlog in accordance with business priorities
  • Plan and spec continuous improvement features for websites and applications in accordance with business return
    • Skills and Experience we are ideally looking for:
  • 2 or more years of development experience with C#.NET, ASP.NET, ORM
  • Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React
  • Current knowledge of Web development techniques, languages and frameworks
  • Knowledge of Azure
  • Webserver and CMS configuration and operation. Experience of using Orchard or other CMS platforms
  • Ability to take wireframe designs and transforming into working code
  • Version control experience i.e. Git and SVN
  • Proven experience with REST API
  • Good visual front-end skills and knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Experience working in an Agile team
  • Knowledge of browser and device limitation and cross browser testing
  • Looking for someone to contribute in different areas and adapt with the business
  • Technically minded with a hardworking attitude
  • Previous experience working with and facilitating change to bespoke ERP systems highly desirable
  • Experience of working with databases beneficial, specifically Microsoft SQL
