Durham University is looking to appoint a temporary Student Support Officer to their team at University College, Durham Castle for a period of 8 weeks.The role holder will:• Provide a responsive and proactive support service for students of the College.• Focus on checking student requirements to ensure the delivery of excellence in the frontline student experience.• Resolve routine issues with things relevant to the role, such as frontline student support, and provide information and updates to help the team find solutions.• Respond to students and members of University staff, answering and recording standard queries and bookings for activities such as student support appointments.• Collect, organise and record data and information accurately and provide reports and analysis as required.• Process and update key business process documentation.• Help colleagues to organise, plan and prepare for events, meetings and activities.• Contribute to the planning of team activities, work and deadlines to ensure the smooth running and timeliness of service.• Resolve queries and respond to requests for information and advice and bring any complex issues to the attention of more experienced team members.• Operate a booking and enquiry service and process requests finding solutions or escalating queries where necessary.• Provide service and support for networks, committees and meetings, to draft and distribute documents and communications in standard professional formats.• Provide support for meetings, working groups and committees, such preparing and sending documents for meetings.• Liaise with internal and external suppliers, contractors, specialists and service providers to plan the delivery of services and events.• Make venue, catering, travel and/or equipment arrangements for events, meetings and activities.Qualifications/Experience:1. Five GCSE’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent2. Experience of working in a team, delivering customer focussed services.3. Experience of working on the front line with service delivery, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tightdeadlines without compromising on quality.4. Relevant administrative experience in a busy office environment.Essential Criterion:5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.6. Good digital skills including experience in using core digital tools including internet, email, digital communication tools.Microsoft 365 applications, digital booking system.7. Committed to continuing professional development.8. Ability to solve problems and resolve straightforward issues yourself and as part of a team.9.
