Job Description

Our client is looking for a Senior Fire Safety Engineer to join them at their sites in Durham on a permanent basis.Job Role

  • Provide expert professional fire safety engineering advice, guidance and support, and managerial and leadership expertise
  • You will be responsible for applying fire engineering in the design of buildings, including, but not limited to: technical delivery of fire safety services; design and drawing appraisals; checking for fire design compliance with Approved Document B, BS9999 or fire engineering design
  • Providing help, advice and assessment of individual issues, such as: fire safety management
  • Manage and develop services, fire safety infrastructure and people performance within the Fire Safety team
  • Recruit, induct, train and develop new team members
  • Deliver specialist services, including fire safety investigations, and quality and regulatory audits, as an expert practitioner in fire safety engineering; making recommendations and identifying priorities to improve fire safety
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of fire safety strategies and reports
  • Lead, manage and implement fire safety projects across the organisation, monitoring and mapping performance, and providing progress reports and mitigating actions to ensure key deliverables and targets are met
  • Identify, source, test and validate resources, materials, tools, instruments, equipment, and software critical to fire safety service delivery
    • Skills/Experience
  • The post-holder will have experience in delivering fire engineering solutions for projects and experience in all aspects of fire engineering consultancy including the principles of fire dynamics
  • MFireE and IFE Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering Design, or equivalent
  • Experience of providing specialist fire safety advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues
  • Ability to solve problems and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions
  • Experience of auditing fire safety management systems against a recognised standard
  • Ability to contribute to planning at operational and strategic levels
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop excellent working relationships both internally and externally
  • Track record of working as a Fire Engineer with experience in designing and implementing fire safety strategies
  • Experience of delivering and developing specialist fire safety services for buildings and estates
    • The role is working a 35 hour working week Monday to Friday. Required skills
