Job Description

Office Angels are currently recruiting for an experienced Publications Coordinator, to join our client who is based on the outskirts of Durham (DH1) on a permanent contract basis. The company we are supporting are extremely well established in their field, they have a supportive and close-knit team who will support you in your development from day one. You will be joining a busy Publications team, supporting the PublicationsManager and wider business. Previous experience in a similar role is essential, alongside digital communications experience. This role will involve copy writing, e.g. for Social Media etc to promote papers, reviewing newly published research, video/pod casts,new initiatives, special issues, and basic video and podcast editing. Previous experience in these areas is desirable. This is a rare and new opportunity to join a growing Publications team.   • Salary: Circa. £26,000 rising to £28,000 after successful completion of 6-month probation
  • Hours: Normally 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9AM - 4:30PM, however when WFH start time can be a little more flexible!
  • Hybrid: Typically 1 day in the office and 4 working from home, flexibility offered.
  • Holidays: 34 days, plus Bank Holidays

This role will support the full Publications portfolio including journals and books to ensure that the company provides high quality publishing outlets, that these publications maintain highest ethical standards and that they are promoted to relevant audiences.Key Duties
  • Support for the submission, editing and peer review for journals and books
  • Support and maintain high ethical standards for editorial and peer review processes
  • Support the users (editors, authors and reviewers) of the manuscript tracking system
  • Support the maintenance of active journal Boards and reviewers including recruitment and induction
  • Provide administrative support for publications meetings including journal Board meetings
  • Training for new Editors and reviewers on the ScholarOne Manuscripts/Manuscript Central system
  • Correspond with authors, referees and editors
  • Support social media and promotion activities for all the journals
  • Help implement and analyse digital content and activities for Publications, i.e. pod casts, videos, Twitter, etc., including support the journals with pod casts and videos publication
  • Coordinate with Journal Editors, the Media Consultant, the Digital Content Officer and other colleagues to ensure a joined-up approach to messaging about the Journals
  • Respond to general publications enquiries
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the Publications Manager
  • Maintain excellent relationships with work colleagues, volunteers and external suppliers
  • General administrative support to Publications team
Person specification:Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level
  • Qualification in publishing or editorial management
Skills and abilities
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, including accurate spelling and grammar
  • Excellent information management and record-keeping skills
  • Proven high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload using own initiative
  • Ability to adapt systems and processes to improve efficiency across the publications process
  • Strong people management skills - able to manage relationships across the publication process with diplomacy, tact and confidentiality
  • Capacity to problem-solve and offer considered pragmatic solutions within the policy/ethos
