We invest in our employees for the long term and we are committed to supporting your development within the company.Job DescriptionJob Title: Product Safety Test EngineerJob Type: PermanentHours: 40 per weekJob Location: DurhamRemuneration: As Product Safety Test Engineer, you’ll receive a salary of between £23,000 and £29,000, depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.As Product Safety Test Engineer you’ll be responsible for performing product safety testing on a variety of Electrical products, when required, to ensure delivery of testing services that meet clients requirements in accordance with the UKAS quality system, as well as assisting in business development as required and to provide specific technical support to expand the Company’s capability to offer valued services to clientsKey Accountabilities;

  • At all times, adopt a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and clients, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures
  • Conduct testing (either in the laboratory or on clients’ sites) in accordance with established procedures, maintaining a high standard of service delivery that ensures effective customer relationships.
  • Complete all work within the required budget and timeframes to help the department reach its targets.
  • Ensure completion of all assigned work and relevant documentation e.g. test reports and certificates in accordance with required procedures and standards to maintain accreditation.
  • Assist in internal / external calibrations on test equipment to ensure compliance with the quality system.
  • Maintain good housekeeping within the laboratory, storerooms and online to minimise accidents and hazards; and to find files, test equipment and samples when needed, and usable as required
  • QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you’ll need recent experience in the use of test and measuring equipment, e.g. multimeters, oscilloscope, etc, as well as previous work experience in electrical engineering, e.g. production, installation, maintenance, repair, testing of products or assembliesIn addition to the above you’ll also need to demonstrate the following;
  • IT literate - competent in the use of MS Office applications.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change - committed to continuous personal and professional development.
  • Working under own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Alternatively, fresh bachelor and master graduates will be considered
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent
  • Alternative HNC/HND in electrical engineering with relevant work experience
  • The following attributes would be desirable, but not essential;
  • Working knowledge of product safety standards e.g. EN 60335, EN 60598, EN 61558, EN 60745, EN 62368, EN 61010, EN 60601, etc.
  • Experience in quality management or quality assurance.
  • Work experience in the TIC industry.
  • Full Driving Licence for use in the UK
  • First Aid Certificate
