Cyber Team Lead Operations

Job Description

Introduction:Hybrid office / remote working available, with irregular travel to HQ in Durham required only occasionally.Were looking for a technically experienced Cyber security candidate to lead a team of four (senior analysts + apprentice) in their day to day operations. The team works in partnership with a managed SOC solution, routinely handling incidents and triage etc.while also delivering improvement projects.The 3rd party SOC is brand new, so within this role youll have the opportunity to help with onboarding a new partner while developing relationships and process over time.This role is part of an expanding Cyber Security function, with the specific remit to develop, implement, and improve security controls across the organisation.Responsibilities:

• Perform initial security investigations working with a team of security analysts (who and what is affected, what is the risk, next steps etc.)
• Supervise the work and priorities, day to day activities and professional development of a team of senior and junior security analysts.
• Provide specialist expertise regarding operating Endpoint Detection and Response, email security, authentication and vulnerability management and other such tools.
• Lead improvements to security operations tools, processes, knowledge etc.
• Security risk assess changes, improvements, user requests and provide recommendations relating to security.
• Work with teams across IT to deliver secure solutions and operate to security best practice and in compliance with organisational policies.

What are we looking for

• Technicalexpertise in security technologies such as anti-malware, encryption, web & email filtering, firewall and authentication.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop excellent working relationships both internally and externally.
• Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues.
• Ability to solve problems and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions.
• Experience of delivering and developing specialist services for IT provision.
• Proven experience performing risk assessments and recommending mitigating controls in the information security space.
• Knowledge and experience of ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational policy and guidelines.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the wider security threat landscape and issues.
• Experience of managing and developing a team or teams
• High levels of self-motivation, initiative and ability to promote and demonstrate a flexible can do attitude to direct reports.
