Job Description

Adeccos specialist Property Services Division North are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a local housing association to assist them in recruiting a Compliance Officer on a permanent basis to work out of their offices located in Durham. Job purposeThe Compliance Officer will assist the Compliance Manager in relation to all compliance related matters, including asbestos, gas, electrical, water hygiene, fire safety, lifting equipment and radon. The post holder will have responsibility for developing and managing a specific aspect of believe housings various compliance activities, policies and management strategies in accordance with current regulations, legislations and best practices.Core duties*Assisting the compliance manager in providing technical expertise to ensure the effective management of asbestos, water hygiene, fire safety, lifting equipment, radon etc. *Responsibility for designing, implementing and reviewing compliance management policies and procedures and making key decisions to implement them in line with legislation and best practice. *To develop existing management systems and implementing changes to improve effectiveness of existing arrangements. To look at efficient methods for sharing information across the organisation and with contractors, consultants and tenants.*To ensure the safety of tenants, members of the public and our homes and common areas by planning, controlling and delivering periodic testing and inspection programmes for the management of asbestos, legionella, electrical safety, gas safety, fire safetyand lifts.*Analysing all compliance surveys in areas such as asbestos, fire, water hygiene etc. and identifying works required and instigating programmes of works to implement and conclude these works. Where required implementing and managing a prioritised programmeof resurveys to ensure compliance and safety is maintained*Acting as a central point of contact for believe housings contractors, consultants and staff and tenants on compliance related matters.*Assisting in the delivery of in-house compliance training to contractors and staff where required.*Taking a lead role in dealing with any emergency incidents involving compliance related activity such as asbestos, fire, water hygiene related issues.*Responsible for contract management of various compliance contractor frameworks and service level agreements for believe housing by ensuring value for money, efficient working and that key performance indicators are met.*Assisting the Compliance Manager in the management of budgets, including external providers, ensuring that value for money is achieved in all circumstances through the monitoring and control of expenditure and the early identification of any financial irregularity.Candidate Requirements*NEBOSH General Certificate in occupational Safety and Health or significant experience in a compliance or building related role*Knowledge of Asbestos Management within Social Housing, including government and industry guidance, British standards and building regulations and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and Approved Code of Practice HSG 227 and HSG 264.*Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety regulation and legislation*Experience of managing Legionella / fire safety/asbestos compliance risks over a large property portfolio.*Experience of procuring and effectively managing third party suppliers to ensure value for money is achieved, including reviewing and implementing performance management systems.*Experience of involvement in the formulation of strategies, policies, procedures and their implementation*Strong interpersonal skills, including being able to influence, persuade and presentPackage & Benefits*£36,020 - £37,146 per annum *31-33 days of annual leave *Pension - 16% employer contribution*Flexible and agile working Badenoch + Clark acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
