Durham University is looking to appoint a Ceremonies Administrator to their team for up to 23 weeks to assist with their Spring and Summer graduations.This role sits within the Academic Registrars Office, which is part of the Student and Academic Services Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Ceremonies team, providing support for the processes underpinning the spring and summer congregations(graduations). This involves planning and preparation for the event, answering email queries, administration of student records on Banner and assisting with student attendance registrations.A key element of the role is working at the events, contributing to these special occasions for our students and their guests, helping to create a celebratory atmosphere and ensuring that the ceremonies run smoothly; providing advice and guidance to students,guests, staff and teams of marshals and student ambassadors.The role is full-time, normally working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with a flexible approach to office hours when the work demands. During spring and summer congregation this will likely involve early start times and late finishes. The role is based inDurham City and is currently following a hybrid working model.Qualifications/Experience1. Five GCSE’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience.2. Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services.3. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality. Skills/Abilities/Knowledge4. Good spoken and written communication skills.5. Good digital skills including experience in using digital devices and apps including the internet, email, digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications, digital booking systems.6. Ability to solve problems and resolve straightforward issues yourself and as part of a team.7.
