Finance OfficerExmoor House, Dulverton, SomersetAre you a part or fully qualified Accounting professional looking for a new challenge Do you want to play a part in delivering Exmoor National Park purposes If so, read on because this could be the role for you!About UsExmoor National Park Authority manages a unique and beautiful part of the country that has been shaped by nature and people over thousands of years.From the high cliffs that plunge into the Bristol Channel to vast moorlands, Exmoor offers drama, tranquillity, beauty and adventure.We’re currently looking for a Finance Officer to join us on a permanent basis at Exmoor House, Dulverton.The Benefits- A competitive salary- Government pension- Flexible working- Family friendly schemes- Paid sickness leave- Social events- Pro rata 27 days annual leave entitlement (full time equivalent), plus a pro rata allowance for bank holidaysThis is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the processing and provision of financial information and advice to the organisation, ensuring that our finance based workflows are fit for purpose, as well as helping shape change where required.We believe in promoting a healthy work-life balance and providing a welcoming, collaborative culture where staff have the flexibility, freedom and support they need to thrive.Based in a beautiful wooded valley beside the River Barle, we have one of the world’s most breath-taking work environments where staff can often go out for lunchtime walks to enjoy the clean country air, recharge and enjoy Exmoor’s beauty.The RoleAs a Finance Officer at Exmoor National Park, you will deliver a range of financial operations for the authority at large, working with budget managers and all the way up to the Chief Executive Officer.Ensuring that all financial activities and work is in-keeping with the Authority’s Financial Regulations, audit requirements and policies, you will monitor the Authority’s adherence to budget.A key element of your role will be liaising with and providing advice to budget holders to ensure income and expenditure targets are met.Reporting to the Head of Finance & Operations, you will:- Review all cost centres to ensure accuracy of information and manipulate data to produce monthly Budget Management Reports for distribution to the Leadership Team and budget holders- Ensure the Authority is compliant with current vat legislation and responsible for preparing/submitting the monthly VAT return to HMRC- Be responsible for ensuring effective credit control is maintained and that all monies due to the Authority is receipted, banked and lodged within the financial information system in a timely manner, including cash handling and recording- Manage the Purchase Ledger and certify creditor payment runs- Reconcile the Authority’s bank accounts on a monthly basis and monitor daily balancesThis is a wide-reaching and vital role within the Authority, and the list of duties above is a brief summary of some of the required duties of the Finance Officer; you will be required to support in other areas of Finance and Operational activity to help support the Authority’s goals and plans for the future.About YouTo join us as a Finance Officer, you’ll need:- To be a Part Qualified CIPFA or Fully Qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians- Experience of working within a Finance Department covering the full range of finance duties- Ability to maintain a variety of financial records within various computer formats- Ability to input, analyse and extract information using spreadsheets, databases, and finance software (e.g. SAP, BLEEP)- Advanced competency in using Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelOther organisations may call this role Finance Manager, Finance Assistant, Finance Executive, Financial Controller, or Assistant Financial Controller.The closing date for applications is the 14th December 2020.As a service provider and local employer, Exmoor National Park Authority is committed to promoting equal opportunities and tackling social exclusion in everything it does.
