Engineering Manager

Job Description

We are looking for an engineering manager to support the Cornish Orchards business based in Cornwall.Who Are WeCornish Orchards was founded in 1999 in Duloe, South East Cornwall. The success and growth of our ciders and soft drinks has been incredible and we put this down to great people, great ingredients and a passion for great cider.Cornish Orchards blends the best of traditional cider-making with all the best practices you expect to see in a modern dynamic drinks business. We pride ourselves with our attention to quality, food hygiene standards and environmental practices to produce the very highest quality products.Following the recent exciting acquisition, since April 2019 Cornish Orchards has been part of Asahi Europe Ltd. Asahi Europe Ltd is a subsidiary of Asahi Group Holdings Ltd, a global beverage and food company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in Japan and has a significant international presence in over 80 countries.Today, Cornish Orchards are a passionate team of over 35 local staff, working hard to create premium soft drinks and award winning ciders, to serve a wide variety of markets, both local and further afield. As a growing business, we are now looking to take on an ambitious Engineering Manager to join our friendly team.Key responsibilities:Maintenance Management:

Develop both planned and reactive maintenance programmes for all areas and carry our maintenance tasks.

Introduce effective spares inventory to support asset care systems.

Prepare and oversee insurance inspections.

Budget Management:

Create and manage zero-based engineering budgets in association with area managers.

Control Engineering spares stock to ensure adequate levels are maintained at all times.

Reduce utility costs through Continuous Improvement processes.

People Management:

Develop an asset care strategy and ensure that all production teams understand their roles in autonomous maintenance tasks.

Development and mentoring of Engineering Apprentice.

Manage the wider engineering team through key sub-contractors, allocating people and resources to tasks in the most efficient and effective way.

Hygiene, EH&S & Legal Compliance:

To meet and exceed production quality standards at all levels.

Ensure the health and safety of staff within the workplace.

Manage engineering legal compliance requirements and calibrations.

Ensure safe systems of work are always in place and complied with.

Project Management

Taking an active role in the 3 year site development programme

Ownership of small and medium sized site projects ensuring completion to agreed budgets and time frame

Your ideal background:

A qualified artisan, preferably demonstrating both mechanical and electrical skills with a flexible and hands-on approach as required subject to schedules and production issues.

Experience in a FMCG packaging environment, preferably cider/beer.

A good understanding of health and safety.

Coaching style with the ability to develop and grow people
