Job Description

Technical Manager (Foundry/Castings)Location: DudleySalary: Up to £50k (Dependant on experience)We are currently recruiting for a Technical Manager in the foundry/casting industry. Our client specialises in castings and are renowned for producing high quality products to the marine, defence, agricultural and engineering sectors. Rapidly producing castings- using the latest technology, items have a very quick turn around and often delivered within 2 weeks of order!Requirements:

  • To minimise internal and external scrap
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure all testing processes and methods meet customer requirements
  • Adopt and maintain principle of standardisation in all processes
  • Adopt principles of continuous development of processes to optimise quality and productivity.
  • Optimise process control tools to enhance quality, reduce lead time, tooling and manufacturing costs.
  • Manage effectiveness of subordinates and team members
  • Maintain calibration of process control tools and production processes
  • Develop and maintain right first time and everytime culture
  • Drive improvements in process control tools and coordinate databases to support correlation of scrap investigations and problem solving.
  • Support Quality department, maintain QC systems according to VFL quality management
  • Reduce cost of manufacturing and eliminate re-working
  • Be a role model for the department to influence positive change
Main Purpose of the role:Employ improvements in safety, efficiency, utilisation and housekeeping.Implement best practice solutions for process control tools which contribute to optimise yield and reduce non-value-added processing or activities (cutting, grinding, transporting etc)Maintain processes and ownership of the technical programme.Coordinate and manage requirement for test certificates for external testingEstablish and maintain testing protocols for new and existing productsMonitor and evaluate customer feedback and implement necessary actions to address any external quality concernsMaintain all process controls tools to ensure calibration, training and performance is aligned to the quality systemCollaborate with supplier representatives to ensure the newest technology and consumables are being used to drive process and quality efficiency. Liaise and coordinate support through the network of with technical support engineersLiaise with customers, machinists, sub-contract processors of VFL castingsTo achieve agreed monthly business plan objectives.Manage and maintain calibration checks for process control toolsSupport transition from manual dressing to adopt auto-grindersIf this sounds like the perfect role for you, please hit APPLY or call Mandy on option 2 for more details
