We ensure that the revolutionary story of the Black Countrys industrial landscapethe first ever of its kind in theUKis celebrated by generations.With our bostin seasonal, themed, and high profile events, as well as being regularly used for TV and Film locations, BCLM is one of Europes most successful open-air museums.We are currently embarking upon our largest development ever, with a multi-million pound investment bringing our story into the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.Based in the heart of the Black Countrys regeneration zone, we are within good commutable distance from many of the surrounding counties.About the roleAs part of the Museums Site Conservation, Transport & Maintenance Team and working across our 26 acre site, your responsibility as the Museums Electrician will include: Carrying out repairs and maintenance of historic and modern electrical equipment in the museum buildings, exhibits and other structures across our 26 acre site. Coordinating the external delivery of work, where this is deemed appropriate. Periodic fixed wire installation testing, using the full range of diagnostic equipment. Compiling condition reports in accordance with IET & NICEIC guidelines. The maintenance and repair of industrial, commercial, and domestic electrical appliances. Ordering materials and managing the electrical budget. Keeping accurate records and certificates of inspections and repairs undertaken, including list of materials used. Installation of the Museums domestic and commercial electrical appliances. Supervising the Electrical Apprentice. Assisting with general site maintenance work, where appropriate.About youYou should have extensive and proven electrical installation or maintenance experience capable of making confident and safe independent decisions and recommendations. Your ability to consider solutions that do not compromise or impact the historic natureof the Museums historic buildings and artefacts will be essential, as will an uncompromising attitude towards risk and safety. Given the safety critical nature of this role, evidence of formal electrical qualifications and training as noted on the attachedJob profile will be a must.Strong organisation skills will be required to plan your work in consideration of the Museums visitor opening hours.
