Job Description

Job Title: Employee Relations Advisor (Hybrid working)Location: Dover with access to travel to the other company sites in Broadstairs, Ashford, Sheppey, Folkstone and Canterbury but this position is on a hybrid working basisSalary: £28,913Hours: 35 hours a week between 8am-6pm with 1 hour for lunch, flexible hoursIncredible benefits:

A summary of your new role:This role will form part of a specialist team of Employee Relations Advisers who will lead the Group stance on ER matters and share responsibility for ER decisions across the Group, ensuring they are following best practice and are effective in all approaches.The role will take ownership of all procedures related to ER and will support Managers within the Group to resolve ER matters early, and appropriately.Through work with key stakeholders, including Senior Leaders, Managers, Business Partners and Unions, this role will coach and advise these stakeholders, putting the Group at the forefront of effective ER and ensuring our staff are valued and supported.Responsibilities as an ER Advisor:
  • Lead on all elements of case management across the Group.
  • Coach and advise staff and managers to achieve resolution of ER matters at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Lead on the design, production and delivery of regular training sessions and/or workshops for line managers and senior leaders across the Group.
  • Provide specialist ER advice and support to HRBPs and their Business Units in respect of ER matters including absence management, grievance, disciplinary and performance management.
  • Work closely with the Senior HR Business Partner so that there is clear, consistent, and regular communication on all casework and to ensure that responsibility for any action is clearly understood; identifying and escalating all associated case risks.
  • Consulting with in-house expertise and other legal professionals to ensure effective case management, risk assessment and cost mitigation of claims up to and including Employment Tribunal or other Court proceedings.
  • Critically review the Groups people policies, procedures and practices and contribute actively to ensure all such tools remain effective, reflect best practice, and maintain compliance with UK legislation.
  • Continually develop a strong body of up-to-date ER knowledge using key resources and use this research to lead implementation ER best practice.
  • Pro-actively lead on absence management across the Group, using data analysis to identify trends and areas of concern and formulating effective strategies to improve absence rates in close collaboration with Senior Leaders.
  • Project manage formal case investigations and hearings on behalf of Principals and Directors.
  • Analyse data to produce regular reports of ER cases and trends for Senior Leadership, formulating effective strategies to improve Group ER performance.
  • Ensure that all paperwork and information associated with ER issues is managed effectively and accurately.
  • Maintain pro-active, regular and effective communications with all relevant stakeholders, including trade union or staff representatives.
  • Create up to date materials to support managers knowledge of ER matters including checklists, process guidance, and reviewing understanding to ensure we are compliant with all approaches.
  • Provide support to the HRBP and Senior Leadership teams in implementing organisational change activities in order to minimise risk to the Group and maximise employee engagement.
  • Build and develop strong working relationships with HR stakeholders in order to deliver consistent professional practice and leverage shared expertise.
  • Supporting project work across the HR team as required.
The successful candidate will have the following experience:
  • Within an HR role dealing with complex ER cases
  • Providing ER advice in an HR capacity, without close supervision, providing complex support and guidance to managers of all levels
  • Being responsible for ER case management
  • Managing a range of ER cases from start to conclusion, using effective judgement to reach acceptable conclusions
  • Working effectively with external legal advisory services, including ACAS
  • Analysing HR data and metrics to produce effective strategies to drive forward performance
  • Policy review and development in relation to ER best practice
  • Working in a similar medium to large, complex organisation
