Job Description

Summary We need someone with experience in the delivery of engaging content across a number of channels from print to digital and you will need to be confident in advising colleagues across all of our sites on brand, marketing and communications. You’ll also have an eye for detail for a good story, with the skills and contacts to turn them into media opportunities. This role is based at Polesden Lacey, but it is responsible for over-seeing the marketing and communications for four portfolios: Polesden Lacey, Clandon Park and Hatchlands, River Wey Navigations and the Surrey Hills.This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months. New areas of the property have opened to the public, making this a year-round attraction with lots of opportunities within the team. The property boasts glorious views of the surrounding Surrey Hills, as well as an impressive art collection, manicured gardens and a large National Trust Shop. Colleagues have a great team spirit with close links to the local community. This picturesque property is just four miles outside of Dorking, however youre likely to need your own transport to get here.Everything in the garden reflects Mrs. Grevilles desire to impress her guests with lavish displays, garden tours are available through the day in summer and weekends in the winter. What youll be doing You’ll lead the development and delivery of the Marketing and Communications plan for your portfolios to achieve its business objectives and connect people with the work of the Trust as a conservation charity. You’ll work with the property teams and wider consultancy to promote the property’s programming, volunteering and participation, restoration work, fundraising, commercial operations and wider offer to name a few. You’ll be the key driver for communications with visitors, the wider community, as well as internal communications. The role will suit a media-savvy, creative individual with experience in a press and public relations or digital marketing environment and interest in history, gardens and the outdoors.Please read the role profile attached for more information Who were looking for We’re looking for someone with:

  • Practical experience in a marketing and/or communications role.
  • Experience of developing and implementing marketing and communications plans
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation; marketing codes, data protection, copyright and model release.
  • A proven track record in creating, using and editing content in different channels (web, social media, PR, email).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to spot potential risks to reputation and escalate them accordingly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to influence, advise and negotiate at all levels within the organisation and with external agencies.
  • Strong organisational skills being able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet measurable targets and deadlines.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of online presence and ways to promote visits to our website and social media channels.
  • Experience of managing volunteers.
