Summary It’s an exciting time to join the team at the celebrated Edwardian retreat of Mrs Margaret Greville. We’re seeking an inspirational, creative and collaborative leader to take collections conservation and engagement to the next level at one of the largestand most visited properties in the region.Interviews: 8 September 2023.Salary: £30,225 - £32,136 per annum, depending on experience. What its like to work here Reporting to the General Manager, youll manage a small group of deeply committed conservation staff as well as a large and very active volunteer cohort. As a member of the Property Leadership Team, youll also be responsible for the effective operationof the overall property, the delivery of the property business plan, contribution to long term strategies and leadership of projects for your area. Youll also cover Duty Management, so weekend working (1 in 3) is part of the role.This picturesque property is just four miles outside of Dorking, but youre likely to need your own transport to get here.Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing This is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated, dynamic and energetic leader with the ability to inspire the collections and house team and volunteers toward the shared vision of making Polesden Lacey an absolute must-see destination.Working with the regional consultancy, you will drive improvements to standards of presentation, conservation and collections care. Providing inspirational leadership and working collaboratively with the whole property team, your creativity and passion forengagement will also help existing and new audiences connect with Polesden and its important collections in an innovative way. This will include a prominent role leading a rolling programme of dynamic house displays, engaging exhibitions (in our permanentexhibitions space), as well as opening up unseen areas of the house. Who were looking for Wed love to hear from you if you can demonstrate:

• Experience managing historic collections and houses, with strong knowledge of, and a desire to innovate in, collections care and preventive conservation
• Proficiency in commissioning remedial conservation for a wide range of objects and caring for the historic fabric of the building
• Excellent project-management skills, with an eye for detail and precision in planning complex projects both short- and long-term
• The ability to get the best out of your team, motivating and developing them, as well as managing volunteers
• A passion for engagement and showcasing the stories behind our collection and conservation work for a range of different audiences
• Experience in the management of relevant compliance, health and safety and emergency procedures
• Strong business planning and organisational skills, plus the ability to set and manage budgets
