Job Description

Summary The National Trust plans to invest in conservation over the next 10 years ensuring we continue to care for some of our most important places. As part of this we are developing new ways of working to ensure we look after our building’s effectively and efficiently.To help delivery our strategy, we now have an exciting opportunity for a facilities Co-Ordinator to join the team at us at the National Trust Surrey Hills Porftolio.If you are passionate about facility management and working in an organisation that cares for and maintains its historic places and properties, keeping them attractive and safe for our staff, volunteers and visitors to enjoy, this role would be perfect for you. The working pattern is usually Monday-Friday, working the odd weekend. What its like to work here Surrey Hills is a diverse portfolio of properties in the heart of the Surrey Countryside. Situated just 15 miles from London, Box Hill is a famed beauty spot remembered as the location for London Olympics road race. If you like the great outdoors, you’ll love this stunning location with its breath-taking views, fantastic walks and colourful wildlife. Box Hill has a thriving café, a shop and an information point where National Trust memberships are sold.There’s also Hindhead Commons and the Devil’s Punch Bowl, which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You won’t have to go far from our café and welcome spaces to admire the views and stunning scenery surrounding this area, visitors step into a colourful mosaic of purple, greens and gold, it’s quiet apart from the sounds of nature.The portfolio also includes our ‘little gem’ Leith Hill Place, the childhood home of the famous English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams near the village of Coldharbour in Surrey. Opened to the public for the first time in 2013, Leith Hill Place exudes an intimacy and informality. Stories of Vaughan Williams and his famous relatives, the Wedgwood family and Charles Darwin are waiting to be told. A house of many possibilities for the future. What youll be doing The role is responsible for supporting the delivery of an efficient, effective and flexible facilities service to enable the successful operation of the Surrey Hills portfolio. Working within the appropriate procedures and conservation guidelines, you will support the team to meet its objectives by ensuring high standards are always delivered and maintained. Responsibilities may include the co-ordination of planned preventative and reactive maintenance and repairs, provision of compliance monitoring and related activities, environmental management tasks, presentation of public areas and some delegated contractor/ facilities management tasks as required to support the Facilities Manager.Due to the variety of sites we look after at Surrey Hills, we would need you to be flexible with where you will be working day to day, as you will likely be working at either one of our main hubs such as Box Hill, Hindhead or one of our estate offices.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert.   • Experience in a facilities role in a customer service environment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Flexible, customer focussed approach with understanding of good customer service standards
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to use tools, equipment as required for the role
  • Willingness to work alongside volunteers and is able to support volunteers to perform at their best
  • Ability to multi-task and work in collaboration with other departments
  • Ability to work well in a team and also on your own.
  • Ability to manage your own workload effectively and efficiently
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office) experience in using computer based asset management systems.
