If this role isnt right for you, there is no shame in that, we will help you find the right area within SEN and Mental Health.This LSA role is based in a specialist SEMH school in Dorking for boys who have initially been excluded from their mainstream education. The boys are aged 9-16 and have been through a number of different traumas. The school has an inclusive, diverse curriculum for students who have struggled in a mainstream environment. Their education will always be within this school, its focussing their studies and wellbeing in a centred education environment.Positive reinforcement and empathy are incredibly important skills in this Learning Support role, it will give you a good understanding of the traumas and mental health challenges that are faced by young learners. A pragmatic, empathetic and positive approach is what is needed to raise the boys attainment. The school employs a number of different of therapies, Art, Music and Occupational Therapies. Its a wonderful, holistic atmosphere.You will be working in 1:1 intervention settings, small group/seminars and whole class support, the role is incredibly eclectic and no one day will ever be the same.
