Summary Make a difference at one of the most precious sites in the Surrey Hills. We are looking to fill the shoes of two fantastic Rangers with two more. Bookham Commons and Denbies Hillside are two of the finest wildlife sites in the country. From day to day care,to future planning and engaging with our visitors, we are after two exceptional Rangers for these to exceptional properties.Your office will have Skylarks and Nightingales in it, or to be speckled with Adonis Blues and Purple Emperors. No dodgy carpets here, our office floors are carpeted with Kidney Vetch, Ox Eye Daisys and Bluebells. What its like to work here If you are passionate about conservation, ecology and want to share that passion with others, then this is the role for you. As Area Ranger you will be the first point of contact for your site. Taking charge of its management and care as part of the SurreyHills ranger team under the guidance as support of the Lead Ranger.We are a small and dedicated team working hard together to improve our sites, engage with our visitors and have fun whilst we do it. We are supported by some fantastic volunteers in our delivery of the aims and strategies of the organisation.The National Trust and Surrey Hills team will always put our people first, support each other and seek to be one team looking after each other and helping wherever we can. What youll be doing As the Area Ranger you will manage a small team of volunteers who will help you in the delivery of your conservation ambitions for the site. Your days will be hugely varied, from tree surveys and practical conservation work, to butterfly counts and writingarticles for local publications.You will be key to ensuring the site is safe for your staff, volunteers and visitors whilst at the same time working toward constant improvements for wildlife. You will deliver on challenging and inspiring management plans and project which will leave alasting legacy of species and landscapes for everyone to enjoy.Youll also be responsible for helping with excellent communication of our conservation work to a wide range of audiences. Your passion for countryside management, conservation and improving our land for everyone should be contagious.
