Job Description

Salary: £11.48 per hour plus Standard Operational Services nightshift premium. Shift: 12 hour shifts that will involve working any 4 of 7 days per week.We are currently looking for a Services Team Member to join our night team at Ocados state-of-the-art automated Customer Fulfilment Centre which is around 1 million square feet and boasts world leading technology. At full capacity we will be fulfillingbetween 190,000 - 200,000 customer orders a week from Dordon, which requires 24/7 operation and a dedicated team of Operational staff and Support Services.Job OverviewTo provide a seamless service within the Service Team to ensure support for the operation. There are numerous areas of responsibility, these include:

  • Central Stores
  • Asset Management
  • Laundry
  • Waste management
  • Returns
  • Visits & Tours
  • Facilities/External Yard.
As a Services Operative you will be required to work in any of the above area, some areas you will be exposed to sensitive and confidential files and situations. Your discretion is important. The Services role is vital to the success of Ocado and you areexpected to demonstrate the Ocado values in every aspect of the role. Our values act as a guide for everything we say and do. By acting on these shared values and being inspired by them every day well keep on growing as a company and keep on delivering onour promises to our customersand each other.CENTRAL STORESRadios - Selected employees from the operation and other support groups have radios to ensure they can communicate effectively during their shift. Services are responsible for the following:
  • Issuing and receiving radios back in.
  • Quality checks when receiving the radios back in to ensure they are in good condition.
  • Processing and sending off any damaged radios.
Audit the Radio to make sure we have enough to support the volume of the operation.RF Devices - These are handheld devices that allow you to check the inventory to any product within the warehouse and find out details of its position and status. Services are responsible for the following:
  • Signing the RF Device in and out.
  • Quality checks when receiving the device back in.
  • Processing and sending off any damaged radios.
  • Processing and sending off any damaged devices. Either the unit itself or the scanner that is attached to it.
  • Regular audit updates.
Uniform and PPE - Ocado supplies all employees with the correct PPE and Uniform required depending on their work area and conditions. Services are responsible for the following:
  • Pre ordering new starters uniform so its ready for them once they have passed their 13 week probationary period.
  • Regular audits to understand what Uniform/PPE we have on site and if we need to order any more.
  • Issuing Uniform/PPE to new starters and replacing damaged items.
ACT - ACT is a Security Access swipe system. Services are responsible for the following:
  • Creating access cards for new starters.
  • Reporting any issues with the system.
  • Ordering and auditing the consumables needed for the programme.
Ordering Operational Consumables - This is vital to the everyday running of the operation. Services are required to monitor and order the following:
  • Wine carriers and carrier bags.
  • Food Technology consumables.
  • Shrink Wrap and Octopus Wrap.
  • Baler Wire.
  • Cleaning Chemicals and Equipment.
  • MSC (Manual Service Counter) Consumables.
  • Stationery.
Laundry - This function is to support the PPE required for the MSC. Also, any returned uniform can be washed in here. Services are responsible for the following:
  • Ensuring the MSC has PPE available before the start of both shifts.
  • Make sure all returned uniforms and PPE are washed before being re-issued.
  • Check all air filters every quarter.
  • Replace empty detergents.
  • Report any mechanical issues.
WASTE MANAGEMENTEmptying 1100 LTR Waste Bins - Its important we provide the operation with empty clean bins 24-7 this will help prevent a build-up of untidy areas and mean we can purge items that have ran out of date. Services team are responsible for the following:
  • Transporting both Food and General Waste bins to the compactor area from the holding area.
  • Processing the waste into the correct compactor and reporting any contaminated bins.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the 1100LTR Bins each time they are emptied.
Reporting any damages to the Services Managers.Emptying Chemical Bins - As we sell different types of household chemicals its a legal requirement to segregate these; it could also be dangerous to mix certain chemicals. Services are responsible for:
  • Transporting the Chemical Bins to the Waste safes located in the external yard.
  • Reporting any contaminated bins.
  • Decanting the contents into the Waste safes.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the bin.
  • Highlighting to the Services Managers when the Waste safe is full and needs emptying.
Wood skips - Wood skips are located in both Ambient inbound and Chill inbound; these are used to dispose of any wood created from pallets. The Services Team are responsible for the following:
  • Emptying the Wood skip once it is full.
  • Conducting daily reports on the external Wood skip.
  • Maintaining the internal Wood skip to ensure it is of good quality.
Cardboard bales - Each pick aisle has shoots that lead to a cardboard baler. All the packaging that is removed from the product is thrown into this. We then sell the cardboard bales to a Waste Management Company. Services are responsible for::
  • Moving the cardboard bales from the compactor onto the curtain sider that is provided.
  • Ensure the load is safe to travel.
  • Make sure both the baler area and the trailer area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Regularly check the baler to ensure its working correctly and theres not a build-up of cardboard bales.
Echo Packaging Bales - We recycle all of our carrier bags and send them
