Job Description

Successful Transport company based near Diss is looking to appoint an Operations Manager. Reporting to the MD you will be responsible for operations supervisors, driving staff and operations administration.Your main duties will include:Planning

  • Effective planning of the Operations department workload
  • Optimising the use of vehicles and drivers
  • Liaising with Engineering regarding vehicle servicing, repairs and availability
Customer Care & Quality Control
  • Monitor service delivery
  • Ensure high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation
  • Continuous improvement plan
Personnel
  • Driver selection & recruitment
  • Operations staff selection and recruitment
  • Staff and driver appraisals
  • Oversee disciplinary process
Compliance
  • Adequate up to date information on vehicle and driver operations
  • Maintain disciplined use of tachographs
  • Ensure Drivers Hours Regulations enforced
Management
  • Produce regular reports of Operations effectiveness and compliance
Skills needed:
  • Experience of day to day management of a large team of drivers and vehicles
  • Capacity to deal with external, as well as internal, stakeholders
  • Effective relationship builder
  • History of operational planning and scheduling
  • Working within both service bus and coaching environments
  • Proven leader, capable of generating loyalty and high morale
Qualifications needed:
  • National/International CPC for PCV operations
  • PCV licence
  • Sound knowledge of PCV legal framework
  • Knowledge of applicable Health & Safety, First Aid, Fire Safety and Driver Hours legislation
  • DBS check
