Midwich Group Plc ("the Group") is a market-leading trade-only distributor of technology products. In 2020, the Group made its largest acquisition to date entering the US market.To assist with the continued expansion of the Group we are recruiting a Group Tax Assistant Manager. This role will support the Head of Tax, Treasury and Compliance in respect of tax advisory projects and compliance processes across the Group. Our rapid business growth is bringing increased complexity in taxation, for example supporting and integrating acquisitions in new markets.The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual, who does not necessarily need experience of all taxes, but has a keenness to learn about taxes affecting the Group. They will also need to be organised, have an enquiring mind and a track record of working well with a broad range of teams and individuals. Experience of working in a multi-national company is desirable.This is a rare opportunity to help shape a tax function of a recently listed public company and to develop your career within a fast-paced business.Working as part of the Group Central Management team, the Group Tax Assistant Manager will work closely with the Head of Tax, Treasury and Compliance and Group Finance team, the wider businesses and external tax authorities to provide commercial tax advice, develop processes and proactively manage compliance for the Group.You will be supported by the Group Finance function, business unit FDs and external advisors, where required. The role will be varied with exposure to lots of different projects and you will also have the opportunity to work closely with the senior management of the Group.The Group has an established acquisition programme which will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in due diligence and post-acquisition integration; often in new geographies.Key Responsibilities:Some elements will be tailored based on previous experience:• Engage and work with advisors on both Group tax structuring and international tax compliance.• Provide ad hoc support on all tax matters including VAT, tax audits, PAYE etc.• Work with business unit FDs to ensure the timely submission of all UK and overseas tax returns.• Assisting Head of Tax, Treasury and Compliance with SAO compliance.• Support on ad hoc tax research and projects, including expansion into new countries, transfer pricing charges, intra-group debt, and ensuring we are compliant with rules around CFCs, interest restrictions etc.• Assist on acquisitions including deal structuring, funding, due diligence and post-acquisition integration.• Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of tax reporting and compliance.• Ensure that transfer pricing documentation is in place and up to date. Identify and manage transfer pricing risks.• Develop and deliver training, training materials, intranet site improvements and communications to promote awareness of tax issues at all levels across the Group as and when required.• Working with Head of Tax and other business unit FDs with tax planning and forecasting.• Support the commercial team with advice on VAT, withholding tax etc.• Assisting with the preparation of the UK corporation tax computations and returns (previous experience dependent).• Assisting with preparing year end disclosures for the Group (IFRS) and UK entities; working with subsidiary FDs (previous experience dependent).Experience and Qualifications:Either ACCA/ACA/CTA qualified or part-qualified with a tax background.A practical and pragmatic approach - able to see the big picture and develop a tax function that aligns with commercial goals of the business.Prior experience of VAT, customs or international tax is desirable but not essential.We are open to the possibility of part-time working and can support study towards professional qualifications.No recruitment agencies please.
