Job Description

The Opportunity We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Waste Manager. Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and waste management Do you have a strong waste background and a desire to make a positive impactAs our Technical Waste Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading your team to ensure the safe and efficient management of hazardous waste while maintaining a strong relationship with environmental agencies.

  • Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of Technical Waste Assessors, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment, encouraging professional growth and development.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilise your in-depth knowledge of waste management regulations, industry best practices, and Safetykleens processes to provide technical guidance and support to both internal teams and external clients.
  • Environmental Agency Relationship: Foster strong relationships with local and national environmental agencies, serving as the primary point of contact. Collaborate with agency representatives to understand and comply with regulatory requirements,facilitate inspections, and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Waste Characterisation: Conduct thorough waste characterisation assessments to determine the appropriate handling, storage, and disposal methods for various waste streams, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Compliance Assurance: Monitor and evaluate waste management practices to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain a high standard of compliance.
  • Training and Education: Work with our Training Manager to develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and clients on waste management practices, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. Stay up to date with industryadvancements and communicate relevant information to the team.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation with cross-functional teams to implement changes that enhance operational efficiency while maintaining compliance.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical expertise and support to customers regarding waste management solutions, addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry
  • DGSA and WAMITAB qualification
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous waste regulations
  • Proven experience in waste management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
