Job Description

Learning Support Mentor Required - RotherhamEngage Education is a leading education staffing agency that connects dedicated and passionate teaching and supports staff with SEN schools across South Yorkshire. If you have previously worked as a Learning support mentor or have worked in similar roles, WE NEED YOU!Role overviewAs a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). You will work closely with the students to provide aspirational and positive outcomes for pupils with complexSEMH needs, through high quality holistic and academic support and securing students’ physical and emotional wellbeing.Key responsibilities:

  • To assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning and SEMH development
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with complex needs, promoting independence and well-being
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment , encouraging social interaction and communication
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students at all times, following relevant protocols and procedures
Requirements:
  • Experience in a care background or similar field, particularly with individuals with SEMH needs
  • Completion of Moving and Handling training or willingness to undertake this course
  • Completion of Team Teach level 2 training or willingness to undertake this course
  • Possession of an Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Supportive, caring, and nurturing personality with a passion for making a difference.
  • Reliable and committed to providing high-quality support to individuals with complex needs.
  • Flexibility to work with students across all year groups and adapt to varying needs and requirements.
