Job Description

Job Title: Community Occupational TherapistGrade: Band 5 or 6Trust: The Rotherham NHS Foundation TrustLocation: Athorpe Lodge Care Home, S25 2NYHours: Monday to Friday 08.30-16.30, part time also consideredPay rate: £16.84 - £20.76End Date: July 2023, (to be confirmed with potential to extend)Rotherham are currently seeking organised and motivated candidates to fulfil occupational therapy opportunities within the community team under a long-term placement contract. Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skillslooking to embark on a new opportunity within the NHS If so, we would like to hear from you today!The post holder will ideally have elderly care experience and will be working within an intermediate care setting for those with a range of conditions including but not limited to falls, fractures, and Parkinsons. They must be able to demonstrate initiativeand prioritise a complex workload whilst working both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a team.High levels of both written and oral communication are essential to this post with the ability to deliver or discuss difficult diagnosis and prognosis with tact, empathy, managing distressed or aggressive patients or carers/relatives. The post holder mustbe able to communicate accurate and sensitive information to patients, carers, and relatives as well as within their own team & colleagues.Role Details:

  • To provide a high standard occupational therapy service, including the supervision of support staff within intermediate care, primarily within residential rehab beds across different locations around the borough
  • To manage a caseload of patients/client and deliver interventions to promote safe and timely discharges.
  • To contribute to the delivery of services to meet Trust objectives
  • To contribute to the delivery of services to meet the trust objectives
  • Contribute to the holistic assessment of wellbeing needs
  • Deliver relevant evidence-based care cluster pathway interventions
  • Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of ward activity interventions
  • Engage with carers and significant others in response to identified needs
  • To contribute to monitoring the quality of work in own service, through active involvement in clinical supervision and reporting any performance/quality issues and related risks.
  • To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out duties, adhering to departmental policy and ensuring the safe use of equipment by others through teaching, training and supervision of practice
  • To be responsible for maintaining own competency and self-development
  • To contribute to monitoring the quality of work in own service area, through active involvement in clinical supervision and reporting any performance/quality issues and related risks

The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Hold a Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • Be HCPC registered
  • Have previous NHS experience
  • Have previous community experience
  • Have a driving license and access to a car
  • Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines
