Job Description

About the Role:The ISD team at UK Greetings design, develop and maintain the systems across all areas of the company that enable us to deliver our commitments to our customers,drive efficiencies and ensure operational continuity for our businesses both in the UK and inAustralia.This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Junior Developer to join ISD. You will have the opportunity to grow and learn not only as a developer but also as a core part of the company through a mix of apprenticeship training (level 3) and real worldexperience.This role involves working as an integral part of the software development team. The development environments will be Progress OpenEdge and SQL Server 2016 with some opportunity for exposure to C#, Java +/or PHP.Description of the Role:

  • You will work as a member of a small team and report into a Development Team Leader
  • You will have the opportunity to work on real world projects that help provide revenue opportunities &/or business efficiencies for UK Greetings and John Sands in Australia
  • You will be involved in the full development lifecycle from requirements gathering through to design, development and user acceptance testing
  • You will have the opportunity to learn new skills
  • You will have the opportunity to learn new technologies
  • You will develop the knowledge and skills required to solve real world problems
Skills and Experience:
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingnessto learn new skills and concepts
  • Logical thinker capable of understanding problems and proposing, designing and developing the required solution, right first time
  • Good collaboration skills and capable of working in a team
  • Capable of working on own initiative seeking assistance where required
  • Organised with a passion for excellence and quality of work
  • Educated to at least A level standard with some college education advantageous
  • Understanding of relational databases and object oriented programming concepts
  • Progress, Java or SQL knowledge advantageous but not necessary for the right person
