Job Description

About The RoleAbout the Role:The ISD team at UK Greetings design, develop and maintain the systems across all areas of the business that enable us to deliver our commitments to our customers, drive efficiencies and ensure operational continuity for our businesses both in the UK and in Australia.This is a great opportunity for an experienced Developer or recent graduate with experience gained in business to join ISD and become a key part of our future. You will be involved in the delivery of new business initiatives but will also work on long term strategic enhancements to replatform our core operating environment.This role involves working as an integral part of the software development team. The development environments will be Progress OpenEdge and SQL Server 2016 with some opportunity for exposure to C#, Java +/or PHP.Description of the Role:

  • You will work as a member of a team and report into a Development Team Leader
  • You will have the opportunity to work on projects that provide revenue opportunities &/or business efficiencies for UK Greetings and John Sands in Australia
  • You will be a key part of the replatforming of our core business system
  • You will be involved in the full development lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, development and user acceptance testing
  • You will have good opportunity to progress and become a key component of the future of ISD
    • Skills and Experience:
  • Graduate with an IT related degree and a proven track record for delivering solutions
  • Knowledge of Progress OpenEdge highly advantageous but not necessary for the right candidate
  • Knowledge of SQL also advantageous
  • Logical thinker capable of breaking a problem down and propose, design & deliver the required solution, on time and right first time
  • Strong technical aptitude and capability to learn new skills and concepts
  • Conscientious with a good work ethic
  • Good collaboration skills; capable of working on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Self starter, organised with a passion for excellence and quality of work
