Job Description

Spencer Clarke Groupare working closely alongsideDevon County Councilto provide them with aSupervising Contact Worker on a 3-6 month initial contract which may be extended.This role is 37 hours per week, evening and weekend work may be required and offers a pay rate of £11-£12 per hour. This may be negotiable dependent on experience.As a successful Supervising Contact Worker, your duties will be:

  • To facilitate safe and meaningful contact between children and their relatives.
  • To ensure that contact supervision promotes the welfare and safety of children in care at all times.
  • To be aware of Lone Working Policy and procedures.
  • To complete accurate, coherent and objective electronic reports within the required timescales on the Council’s Social Care database systems. Contact reports will contribute to part of Care Proceedings documents.
  • Liaise with and support social work staff and foster carers.
  • To work closely with your Area Team Leader and Social Work staff to ensure positive effective communication of information.
  • To negotiate with families in difficult situations to achieve a calm environment within supervised contact settings, including dealing with confrontation in a calm and assertive manner in order to diffuse situations.
  • During contacts, promote appropriate care of the child and appropriate play according to the child’s age.
  • To be considered, you will have the following knowledge/experience:
  • Experience in this role already then that would be beneficial, but would also consider applicants who have transferrable skills and worked in a similar setting
