Job Description

Company OverviewACO, the creator and organizer of the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans since 1923, has seen this legendary motorsport event rapidly expand its international presence. This global growth is made possible through the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), offeringmotorsport enthusiasts worldwide the opportunity to witness Le Mans-style events at eight races spanning four continents.The Le Mans circuit hosts a wide range of other prestigious international events, including the 24 Hours Motorcycles, the French Motorcycle Grand Prix, Le Mans Classic, the 24 Hours Trucks, and the 24 Hours Karting. In addition, ACO is engaged in variousactivities related to motorsports and road safety, further enhancing its national and international reputation.All these endeavors are undertaken by dedicated teams of professionals who embody ACOs core values and work at the heart of the 24 Hours circuit.Role OverviewReporting to the Deputy Director of Competition, the Sporting Manager leads the ACOs permanent team responsible for drafting and enforcing sporting regulations, as well as overseeing the activities of officials and key service providers who complete thesporting team during events.Leveraging his/her experience in sports events and/or motor sport, the Sporting Manager will efficiently organize regulatory processes and optimize operations to meet the ACOs objectives. He/She will also represent ACO at events, liaising with manufacturers,competitors, and partner federations.Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the processes used by the Race Control and the Panel of Stewards, including defining and monitoring the specifications for key suppliers, such as timing, race direction software, radio communications and marshalling.
  • Draft sporting regulations in alignment with ACOs strategic objectives, employing a projectmanagement based approach and organizing consultations.
  • Management of Sporting Delegates:
    • Prepare sports working groups and the FIA Commissions in which ACO participates.
    • Provide a detailed report after each event, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • In liaison with the Deputy Director of Competition:
    • Monitor and analyze the categorization of drivers participating in ACO championships and the applicable regulations.
    • Lead recruitment and training of officials in collaboration with the Deputy Director of Competition, including profile identification and roadmap development.
Qualifications
  • Education: Higher education in sports event management or sports organization management, with a substantial (8 to 10 years) background in the motorsports industry.
  • Successful Manager: Proven experience in successful management roles.
  • Stress Resilience and Diplomacy: Ability to thrive under pressure and display diplomacy in dealings.
  • Attention to Detail and Confidentiality: Strong commitment to detail and confidentiality
  • Remote Work Proficiency: Comfortable with remote work arrangements.
  • Fluent English: Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Office Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and collaborative tools (MS Teams, Google Drive, Sharepoint).
  • Travel: Expectations of 10 to 15 races per year (as needed), including work during holidays and weekends.
