Job Description

Job Title: Production ManagerLocation: Long Eaton, NottinghamshireSalary: £50,000 - £60,000 dependant on experience.Job Type: 37 hours per week - 8.00am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs (30 mins lunch), 8.00am to 1.00pm Fri (no lunchbreak)TecQuipment is the leading provider of high-quality educational equipment for engineering disciplines. The companys laboratory products are used by students and educators across the world, in over 1500 establishments in more than 100 countries.The role:The Production Manager is responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team to build and prepare products for shipping in order to fulfil customer orders on time and within agreed margins. With the support of the senior management team and other company departmentsthe production manager will ensure all staff are able to operate efficiently, effectively, and safely and that there is a positive and collaborative working environment.We are expanding production capacity as part of a long-term growth plan based on a very strong order book and long-term customer relationships.You will play a key role in enabling the business to achieve its targets and deliver consistent, sustainable growth.As the leader of our 40 people Production Team, you will play a critical role in every aspect of the production operation and take responsibility for ensuring people are safe, productive and efficient, processes operate smoothly and effectively and ordersare fulfilled on-time, on-budget and to the right standards.General Duties:

  • To adhere to the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and other related policies such as Equal Opportunities, as set out in the Company Handbook.
  • To follow the guidelines for Training and Evaluation as set out in the Company Handbook.
  • To work within the Companys Quality procedures within your department.
  • To effectively manage the time and attendance of employees within your area.
  • To undertake/perform other duties associated with this role, by agreement.
About Tecquipment:We design and make lab equipment used by universities and colleges to teach engineering so quality of function and finish are critically important. Operating at the extreme end of high mix/low volume electro-mechanical manufacturing, we have evolved approachesthat have served the business well and now are looking for the successful candidate to drive the identification and implementation of manufacturing best practise tailored to our particular product mix and business needs.TecQuipment manufactures of over 400 different products in our site in Long Eaton, near Nottingham. We typically complete and ship around 60 sales orders per month, each of which may include multiple products. The products cover a range from simple forcesand moments kits through to wind-tunnels and gas turbines so there is tremendous variety and different challenges every day.Essential:
  • 5 years working in a production management role within an SME
  • Proven technical and leadership skills and the drive for further career progression
  • Experience of managing complex and diverse operations
  • Good practical knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and the proven ability to introduce change and process improvement
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to keep objectives in sight and whilst finding solutions to the day-to-day challenges of a complex operation
  • Willingness to lead from the front and get your hands dirty when it will make a difference
Desirable
  • Engineering qualification
  • Experience with SAP Business 1 ERP
  • NEBOSH qualified
