Position: Pre-Construction Director (Tenders & Bidding)Location: East MidlandsSalary: £130k (neg DOE), car/allowance, bonus and excellent benefits packageOur Client: Is one of the UKs leading building, infrastructure and engineering contractors which delivers projects across a range of sectors with a specialist focus on water and highway works.They provide specialist design and build capabilities and are experienced at project management and integrating all aspects of a project.The Role: Ensure our client can understand, assess, and qualify opportunities for continual growth to be achieved. Identify the best opportunities for bids and make decisions on which jobs are worth bidding for whilst devising a successful bidding strategyto ensure new clients are won, thereby building their portfolio of future work and client relationships.Driving continuous improvement in the approach to all aspects of preparing and submitting tenders.Play an active role in the definition, communication, and execution of the bidding strategy and the close-out plan. Ensure a disciplined approach to completion of tasks and governance through the tender period.Ensure continuity of approach and that risk is identified and effectively mitigated.Provide leadership by applying best practices and guiding the bid team and other stakeholders throughout the tender lifecycle.Be able to strike a balance between increasing the number of tenders, protecting the business, and the requirements of internal and external stakeholders.Manage individual bids as required.Responsibilities: Build and manage multi-disciplined, geographically disperse, high-performing bid teams.Lead team to a common set of goals and deliverables.Challenge and coach the team members in support of quality outcomes.Management of Response DocumentsSuccessfully manage the process of drafting, reviewing, finalising, and submitting quality proposal and tender documents to clients.Effectively engage with potential clients in the tender process.Successfully manage the final stages of the tender process leading to contract award.Experience: Relevant engineering or construction degree essentialDemonstrable success rate in leading major multi-disciplinary infrastructure bids.Proven experience of working on or preferably leading civil engineering or construction projects.Solid working knowledge of estimating, planning, design, commercial and written submissions and is skilled in identifying and controlling risk.Excellent organisational skills.Demonstrable experience of working in a joint venture environment.Skills: Possess the skills required to build and lead geographically dispersed, multi-disciplined bid teams, using and fostering the talents of each team member.Demonstrate flexibility and resilience, adapting quickly to changing circumstances while keeping the team focused on the goals and deliverables.Works well under pressure, to very tight deadlines but leads the team with empathy and understanding of each team members situation.Demonstrate customer focus.Understands business and technical objectives of the customer.Build customer trust and engagement.Demonstrates strategic thinking.Applies industry or regional knowledge and experience to help strategy development, procurement engagement and response development.Detailed knowledge of project management and bid management disciplines.Strong communicator, orally and in writing, tailoring the methods and means to the audience.Able to persuade and convince.Has the ability to facilitate sessions including best practice events.Is a single point of contact for the bid for all stakeholders and customers.Possesses and applies broad knowledge of the technical, solution (offerings), legal, commercial, and financial aspects.Key Words:Pre-ConstructionTendersTender ProcessTender PreparationTenderingTenders DocumentsProposal DocumentsBidsBid StrategyBid ManagementBiddingProposalsEngineeringInfrastructureConstructionWater IndustryWater SectorWater TreatmentWastewaterWaste WaterSewageHighwaysCivil Engineering
