FMCG (food innovation)East Midlands£70,000 pa - £80,000 pa + Share Options, EMI Scheme and Senior Management BenefitsThe CompanyThis exciting food innovator producing sustainable and healthy food alternatives is looking to take their business to the next stage of industrialisation and volume production.The RoleAs a next generation food technology business, they are seeking an experienced Head of Technical or Technical Manager to join the senior leadership team to be responsible for overseeing the R&D, scale-up and product launch, with a particular focus on R&D.Playing a key role in scaling the patent-pending technology and as the key technical lead you will oversee commercial production scale-up and manage innovation across two teams and locations while establishing strategic technical partnerships and managing currentR&D partners.This will be a key role in the implementation of programmes for food safety and quality and the Technical Lead will be involved in the selection, construction and scale-up of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility while planning and delivering the technicalaspects of the business plan, working directly with the CEO.The CandidateAs a proven technical expert, you will have 5 years plus experience within fermentation and microbiology and be familiar with scaling up bioprocesses into large volumes and production.A relevant Degree, MSc or PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology Food Technology or similar will be required along with the leadership experience and a track record of managing scientists or technical R&D staff. Key to success in the role will be a strong commercialunderstanding of scaling up and launching new products, ideally within the food industry, as well as exposure to setting up and managing a high performing manufacturing facility.They require someone with the drive and energy required to work in a fast-paced start up, with motivation to grow the business and be a key part of its future success.
