They help businesses to manage credit risk, prevent fraud, target marketing offers and automate decision making.ResponsibilitiesDatabase maintenance/monitoring

  • Monitoring and maintaining (db size, resources, performance)
  • Scaling
  • Creating databases
  • Managing users, schemas, permissions.
  • Optimising performance
  • Understanding of cloud architecture (AWS RDS services)
    • Data warehouse development
  • Turning requirements into logical and physical data model
  • Documenting of design
  • Scripting the models (DDL and DML)
  • Scripting for automation (i.e. deployment)
  • Design to optimize performance (indexing, partitioning)
  • Managing changes to models (i.e tracking change (with the tool called Liquibase), rollback, forwards/backward compatibility, source control (GIT))
  • Designing and maintaining ELT
  • Data governance
  • Designing and using OLAP cubes
    • Dev Ops
  • Ensuring deployment can be automated and scalable
  • Continuous integration continuous delivery (Jenkins tool)
  • Design services to run in containers
    • Ad-Hoc
  • User support/troubleshooting - Resolving queries regarding BI Services running in non prod environments
    • Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
  • The ability to understand "The Bigger Picture" - from business requirements down to front end reporting tool set all the way through to back end databases and source systems
  • Data Warehouse modelling techniques - Inmon / Kimball dimensional modelling.
  • Experience with large transactional data volumes, and the types of solutions that support these in data warehousing.
  • Appreciation or understanding how Agile BI projects work.
  • Good team player - working closely with the application developers, product owners and product managers.
  • BI implementations on Cloud
