Job Description

Senior Residential Childcare Worker Location: Derby, DE24Salary: £23K per annum, inclusive of sleep insContract: Full time, PermanentSunlight Childrens Care Ltd is a family run business. We primarily care for young people aged 8-18 with emotional, behavioural difficulties (EBD). Our young people will have encountered traumatic early life experiences, and some may have moderate to low learning difficulties as well attachment disorders.We are committed to providing excellent care in a safe, warm and nurturing environment. In return we can provide access to opportunities for development both personally and professionally and progression within the company, as well as training and access to CPD.We are looking for candidates who have completed or are working towards the Level 3 CYPW Diploma or equivalent, and have experience in residential care, or working with looked after children.   • Professional child/young person Care Practice
  • To ensure young people are looked after and their needs are met
  • To work as directed by senior staff and managers, adhering to policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • To be a positive role model for the child/young person and encourage them person to develop meaningful relationships and attachments.
  • To contribute to the development of children and enable them to reach their fullest potential by providing a stimulating and varied lifestyle.
  • To work with clear and consistent boundaries in order to create safety and emotional containment for the children.
  • To work alongside young people to help them develop a true sense of identity and self -worth.
  • To learn how to identify signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that children and young people are protected in line with legislative requirements and responsibilities
  • To be sensitive to the needs of individual children, taking into account their race, culture, language and religion and any disability.
  • To talk and listen to children, and to observe their behaviour, and communicate and record significant features.
  • To actively seek to promote children’s rights and to work in an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive manner.
  • In order to be successful in our Residential Childcare Worker role, you must have:
  • "Level 3 Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma" or relevant equivalent.
  • Experience of working with children and or young people with EBD / CSE or in related social care sector.
  • Completed some independent study surrounding Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • You must have a driving license and be prepared to add business insurance to your personal policy.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate with children and young people and good active listening skills.
  • Caring and compassionate, patient and understanding, friendly and engaging.
  • Enthusiastic and motivational, with the ability to manage stress.
  • Brave and confident even in the face of a crisis situation.
  • Honest reliable and accepting of responsibility and being accountable.
  • At all times as positive role model by acting as a Good Parent.
  • Able to lead and motivate teams carry out staff supervisions and debriefs contribute to staff appraisals.
  • Must be able to use ICT, Electronic devices such as tablet and type reports and written documents as delegated and electronic communications.
