Job Description

2Fawcett are recruiting for a Senior Logistics & Transport Manager to join a global manufacturing business in Derbyshire on a full time, permanent basis. This role will involve managing the relationship with the logistics service provider for the Derby siteand the distribution centre operations including any overflow or additional locations.Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the relationship with the UK, Export and European transport providers meet contractual obligations to key performance indicator (KPI) targets including cost and service
  • Ensure all logistics and transportation operations meet required standards on regulations, safety and quality
  • Drive a continuous improvement agenda with the logistics providers to continually reduce the cost to serve in all aspects of its operations in both the warehouse and transport operations
  • Ensure there is an effective KPI reporting and issue action and resolution processes with the logistics providers to company and Customers expectation including providing reports to the key stakeholders at agreed frequencies
  • Leading the customer care team to provide exceptional customer care to partner businesses in line with the departments vision and objectives such as the top level OTIF measure
  • Lead on the development of the capability of both the CS team and the wider 3PL team to ensure both groups meet business needs for the current and future including training.
  • Ensure all employees are part of the annual appraisal process and have clear and measurable set of objectives that are fully aligned. This should include succession planning for the team
  • Develop a culture of involvement and participation with the team linked to both good communications and recognition
  • Lead and support cross departments and businesses projects to drive positive change, best practice service standards and cost savings
  • Ensure development and implementation of processes and documentation to reflect legal requirements and best practice for all export processes for all dispatches from Derby site to international customers
  • Review key customer vendor manual requirements with the wider operational, QSHE, 3PL and customer services teams to ensure any agreed processes are developed for each customer, are fully deployed
  • Continually review the third-party logistics contract to ensure it meets the future needs of the business
  • Source and manage any external storage facilities needed in the UK to ensure the correct inventory levels and service provisions are met
  • Manage the sourcing on any new assets with both the third-party logistics partner and internal procurement to ensure best value options are identified for warehouse and transport asset procurement in line with business needs
  • Lead on any logistics tendering processes to define any new LSP and negotiations for any existing contract renewals and price changes
  • Promote cross functional working between the 3PL partner, UK commercial and manufacturing operations to eliminate work and poor processes at the operational interfaces
  • Active contribution of ideas and initiatives to the wider business in order to drive operational cost and service improvements on an enterprise wide basis
Skills and Experience - Essential
  • Experience of working to Customs and Export practices and procedures
  • Good level of IT capability including Sage, SAP, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance systems and processes
  • Experience of working for a manufacturing orientated organization in relation to the sourcing and management of logistics services
  • Demonstrable experience of managing, motivating, engaging and developing a team
  • Previous experience of managing contracted out warehousing and distribution/ transport service and delivering benefits
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing continuous improvement activities in a customer care environment
  • Competent in budgetary and contract management to hit pre-agreed targets
