Job Description

Our client provides hostel accommodation and support for vulnerable service users and are recruiting for a Security and Customer Service Officer for their Derby based hostel.As a Security and Customer Service Officer, you will act as the first point of contact for service users ensuring a welcoming environment. You will ensure the site remains safe and secure for staff, visitors and service users and that servicesare delivered in accordance with the company standards and policies & procedures and contractual obligations at all times.This is a full-time permanent role (42 hours per week). You will be expected to work 12-hour shifts which include days, nights and weekends. This is done on a rota basis working 48 hours week one and 36 hours week two. We are looking for people with excellent communication and customer service skills.A background of working with vulnerable service users would be advantageous.Key responsibilities include:

  • Welcome service users to the site and provide a full induction in line with procedures.
  • Be the first point of contact for service user enquiries.
  • Maintain general vigilance by undertaking regular building patrols so ensuring the security of the site and service users.
  • Report any concerns regarding services users.
  • Report any breakages and/or repairs to the facility.
  • Ensure all relevant forms and paperwork are completed including, but not limited to, maintenance requests, patrol sheets, accident / incident reports.
  • Ensure that the reception desk is staffed at all times and visitors sign in and out of the building.
  • Ensure visitors are aware of the fire evacuation procedures and wear ID badges.
  • Responsibility for key security, ensuring that all keys are signed in and out by staff and contractors and keys are stored securely.
  • Monitor the CCTV to ensure the safety of staff and service users.
  • Monitor all visitors to site and only allow access to those who are authorised.
  • Operate as a Fire Marshall ensuring the safe evacuation of building
  • Deal with emergencies as they arise and contact emergency services as
  • required for the safety of all in the Hostel and with due regard to personal
  • safety at all times.
  • Attend to service users enquiries/requests whenever possible and provide supportive environment.
  • Welcome all arrivals and in line with procedures, provide an initial induction and escort service users to their rooms.
  • Receive and record calls including taking accommodation bookings.
  • Ensure telephone calls are answered in a timely manner and messages
  • recorded appropriately and in detail.
  • Ensure that all voicemails are picked up and actioned as soon as is possible.
  • Check Fire alarm panels at regular intervals for faults.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers and fire blankets are free from obstruction.
